Thread: what does everyone thinking about all the smuggler respec's
I could care less. They are free to respec to Smug just as we are free to respec to anything else.
I don't buy into this elitist attitude. The hypocrisy of Smugglers and BHs in particular over respecs amuses me. i.e. A BH gets his panties in a bunch over people respecing to Master BH, but is unable to see that is no different than him respecing to Master Carbineer.
Smuggler, I think, will remain attractive long-term to only a certain player type.
I hope they have fun and love the profession as much as the rest of us do.
And I hope that they don't have to go through two years of lies and broken promises like the rest of us had to.

I really don't care either, they're in it for the specials, not to sell faction, spice etc. Personnally when I respeced, I found it difficult since I refuse to drop smuggler (the first and only prof. I ever wanted and have ever kept since I started). A couple nice specials and a Recon armor cert. will only appeal to most people for a short length of time. If I didn't care about smuggler I'd have respeced to something completely different.
Now if the mythical smuggler revamp happens it may be a whole different ballgame, I just respeced my alt. to MBH for content, I could see people doing the same with smuggler.
bingo.. If you really want to get your panties in a bunch over the respeccing, head on over to the bh forum. There's enough elitist "i'm better than the respec bh'ers cuz I was a bh before hand" crap over there. Hell they have threads asking for special titles for pre-respec bhers. Its retarded.

same goes for BH
theres clearly an imbalance in terms of gameplay possibilities with these professions vs. rifleman, carbineer, swordsman, etc. so if the combat is generally equal then you're going to find a lot of smuggler in a lot of tempaltes.
1- Is a "true" Smuggler only thoses who were in SWG beta and played a Smuggler there.
2- Only thoses who are Smuggler since the first month of the game
.... or first 6 months
.... or first year
3- Are "true" Smugglers only thoses who got banned from the forums at least once.
etc etc etc
I'm not believing any of that, mind you: heck I would not be a "true" Smuggler myself then rflmao Just making a point that if we want to be really elitist, it is very easy to find some stuff to be elitist about.
I'm not worried tho. First, we are a good bunch. This community is welcoming usually of new peoples. Second, respec is only for a few weeks, so the influx of "respec Smugglers" is only for a while. Some peoples will grow into their profession, love it, and keep it. Some will explore it than repsec to something else. The only real impact from that I can see is a wee bit more traffic on this forum for a bit, more "newbie" questions, but that's ok too. Of the bunch, some will stay Smugglers and become new productive appreciated members of this community.
And like someone pointed out, it is not worse than so many of us respecing to BH, or Rifflemen, or whatever lol

I think it is great to get the fresh blood into the profession. If nothing else, having more smugglers will (hopefully) put us higher on the dev's todo list. I've never been one to buy into the "I had to suffer, you should suffer" mentality. The ones who truly love it will be here for a long time to come.
That said, these people who are respecing professions for 12 hours to avoid paying members of that profession for their services (crafters/slicers/trainers/etc), they can go take a flying leap. Don't want 'em, don't need 'em, hope all their slices blow, their weapons fail, their pets eat them, and they get terminal acne.
Now's not the time to be shy. Tell us what you really think!

I also dont mind anyone that choses to respec to Smuggler [welcome] but i agree that people shouldtake the time to read up on the profession. [Personaly i would never touch a persons weapon to slice if i wasnt sure what i was doing.] Oh, and probly the main reason bounty hunters are upset is the insane number of tells they get now from respec MBH about how to hunt down a jedi [often from those that havent taken the time to even hunt an NPC Mark] ... heck i even get tells from respec BH on how to hunt marks and i havent been a BH in almost 8 months now ... now with the ablity to respec into a master crafter position i cant wait for the tells on how to craft as a master shipwright ![]()
Please Please if you respec into a proffesion read the boards... then come to me and i'll gladly spend the time to teach ya what wasnt / isnt posted. So ... FYI be it smuggler or shipwright i'll help ya "after you check the boards" ![]()
I personally agree that I don't care that they just came over to the smuggler world. One thing I do wish though is that they took the time to learn the new profession instead of in game. I had a Master Smuggler send me a tell in game asking me why he got a failed slice on a weapon that he was slicing for someone. He didn't use molecular clamps and didn't realize that he actually had to do something to slice items. I admit, I made this same mistake when I started the smuggler profession too. However, I messed up on a Locked Container that I bought as opposed to a weapon that someone may have paid outrageous credits for. I personally wouldn't be happy if I gave my weapon to be sliced and all of the sudden they mess it up.
I too chose to be a smuggler in this game from the moment I actually decided on what I wanted to do. I mastered Marksman because I was a noob and didn't really know what I wanted. I liked the idea of being a smuggler and the stuff that came with it, when respec became an option I had to figure out what went best with my Master Smuggler. I refuse to give up smuggler and will be one until the day that I quit playing this game.
So please all you respec smugglers, learn the requirements for slicing, and please read the messages that come up when you slice. I for one would not want to be the one to tell someone sorry I made your 1 million credit weapon unsliceable.
