Thread: what does everyone thinking about all the smuggler respec's
Well, I have mixed emotions about the respecing... Some are nice people, who ask good questions. but if I get -CURNAGE- ONETHREETHREESEVEN* asking me "u tell me sice" and I got NO idea if he is talking about slicing or spices!
I use my d00dspeech skill and ask "What you say?" I get the answer "n00b, u tell me sice"
Then, THEN I want to
Smash!
DESTROY!
KILL!!!
SPONTANOUS COMBUSTION!!!!
*pant* *pant* *pant*
I need a beer... *twitch*
*This name is not the real one, so the real -CURNAGE- shall not be offended by this... bet you where never a Smuggler anyway... Jedi...**
**May or may not be true

you know, I don't mind em. The large marority of us are doing the respec thing anyway so we can't really get mad over someone respecing to smuggler. I mean I did it for BH. Since smuggler has some fairly sttractive specials and a ton of RP/future content potential it's only understandable that some would want to respec to smuggler
I'm a partial respec smuggler. Let me explain, I've been working on the same template since late January '04, I was to be Pistoleer, Smuggler. I did pistoleer first but due to certain RL obligations is took me over 1year to master pistoleer. I had in that time picked up BH 0040 to supplement my Pistoleer for the grind. I then set out to finish Smuggler but I am most likely the slowest grinder you will ever meet. I had gotten Novice Smuggler the week before the CU / Respec hit. I then respecced my BH skills over to smuggler and voila my horrid grinding days were behind me and my character was complete.Does this make me any less a smuggler than anyone else? Absolutely not.
Why?
Because a true Smuggler is not someone selling FP or spice or slices. It isn't someone firing Last Ditch or Concussion shot. A true smuggler is someone like Joras, someone who loves the idea of being a smuggler. Someone who loves the profession for more than what the numbers calculate or things you can do as a smuggler. It was something he wanted to do before there ever was a SWG to play, something he wanted since he first heard about the "Star Wars MMO". Something that many if not most of us share. A passion for what being a smuggler makes our characters. So I boldly and proudly say that I am a true smuggler, and I was one before the respec, before I ever owned the game. So for those that are using the respec to join our ranks because they love the idea of being a smuggler I have my arms open, to those that are doing it for the specials to supplement another profession, more power to them but they are more along the lines of pistoleers or riflemen that know a trick or two from their smuggling friends

I'm not sure If I like it or dislike it, it's good because its bringing alot more people to the profession but its bad because its taking away business and these guys dont have to go through the really dull slicing grind, what does everyone else think?
Cheers
And, of course, buying into the Smuggler mythos and lifestyle helps, too, but it's not so required.

1. Who cares
2. It'll take a few days and all the people that respec'd will realize that even after the CU smuggler isn't that much to crow about. (Until the revamp that is) Then they'll probably respec to whatever ubar 1337 turd #6983 told them was the new FOTM.
If they want the specials, cool.
If they want to play a smuggler and slice/sell faction/spice, etc - Cool.
If they respec'd over just so they could slice their own stuff and then respec out again - I'm not going to lift a finger to help 'em.
I'm glad to see there's no elitism among smugglers. I repeced one of my characters from MBE,(try the DNA grind if you think slicing is ugly, at least your weapon doesn't turn around and bite you in the.. you know what) to Master Smuggler and I'm having lots of fun making spice and getting my tools together to start slicing. I'm not even really interested in the combat, although I had to have a Renegade Pistol. I have to agree with others. This silly, "I did it pre-respec, so I'm the true whatever" is going overboard. Everyone who respeced in this game had the skills to do it to begin with and you never know what kind of hellacious grind they had to do to get there. Even if they didn't, it doesn't matter. They had the skills, they just put them elsewhere. If you want to get really technical, those who didn't respec and become smugglers after theRespec Periodwill really have it difficult. The experience costs for Pistol are waaay higher now. I'm sure they'll think they had it harder then all of us. When we're old and gray and out of the business for good we can sit around and moan about who had it worse over drinks. ![]()
Looking forward to a long career of less than legal doings!
