Well, I have mixed emotions about the respecing... Some are nice people, who ask good questions. but if I get -CURNAGE- ONETHREETHREESEVEN* asking me "u tell me sice" and I got NO idea if he is talking about slicing or spices!

I use my d00dspeech skill and ask "What you say?" I get the answer "n00b, u tell me sice"

Then, THEN I want to

I admit I'm a partial respec *hides*. I had everything but the spice line done before the CU and to be honest I wasn't looking forward to going through all of that. Then the CU and respec hit, shuffled stuff over from the dirty fighting tree into spice and then redid the dirty fighting tree. So yeah, I was a bad monkey and I fully admit to it, and for that I'm sorry.

you know, I don't mind em. The large marority of us are doing the respec thing anyway so we can't really get mad over someone respecing to smuggler. I mean I did it for BH. Since smuggler has some fairly sttractive specials and a ton of RP/future content potential it's only understandable that some would want to respec to smuggler

Yeah, I have no problem with people respecing into Smuggler. They put the time in on some other profession in order to get master there, so it's not liek they are getting a free ride. And for some it wasn't possible to master Smuggler with their old template skill pre-reqs.

I just get annoyed with those respeccers who don't take the tiem to read the FAQ and stickies we provide for them, and instead ask for us to take our time to explain things to them they could easily read on their own.

I think every profession is upset that other people are using respec to get into their professions. This is especially true with BH and now the crafting and entertainer professions. The biggest complaint seems to be that "They didn't go through the same pain that I did to get here." But they still mastered something else in order to respec into it so they went through some form of grind, just not the exact same as the one they used respec to get to (in most cases).

After the chef revamp and the many broken promises to give smuggler a revamp, I ended up dropping smuggler, but with the CU, I see some worth to smuggler so I started re-grinding it again. Before CU actually hit, I was 2341 smuggler then used respec to finish off the rest of it. Hate me or like me for it, I don't care. It's my game and as long as I play by the rules, I'll do what I want. The BH's really hate me because I used respec to get all of that. /shrug

I'm a partial respec smuggler. Let me explain, I've been working on the same template since late January '04, I was to be Pistoleer, Smuggler. I did pistoleer first but due to certain RL obligations is took me over 1year to master pistoleer. I had in that time picked up BH 0040 to supplement my Pistoleer for the grind. I then set out to finish Smuggler but I am most likely the slowest grinder you will ever meet. I had gotten Novice Smuggler the week before the CU / Respec hit. I then respecced my BH skills over to smuggler and voila my horrid grinding days were behind me and my character was complete.Does this make me any less a smuggler than anyone else? Absolutely not.

Why?

Because a true Smuggler is not someone selling FP or spice or slices. It isn't someone firing Last Ditch or Concussion shot. A true smuggler is someone like Joras, someone who loves the idea of being a smuggler. Someone who loves the profession for more than what the numbers calculate or things you can do as a smuggler. It was something he wanted to do before there ever was a SWG to play, something he wanted since he first heard about the "Star Wars MMO". Something that many if not most of us share. A passion for what being a smuggler makes our characters. So I boldly and proudly say that I am a true smuggler, and I was one before the respec, before I ever owned the game. So for those that are using the respec to join our ranks because they love the idea of being a smuggler I have my arms open, to those that are doing it for the specials to supplement another profession, more power to them but they are more along the lines of pistoleers or riflemen that know a trick or two from their smuggling friends .

I'm good with it - I repec'd my Master Smuggler/Master Rifleman to MS/Master Carbineer, so even if I did have a problem with it I'd be a hyprocrite to say anything anyway

I'm hoping that when more people get a taste of Smuggler, and more join - that they see the bugs and see the potential of the profession - and with more numbers to complain, hopefully the faster change will occur.

So a big "Howdy" to all our new Smugglers!

Cheers

I respecced BACK in, but that's a little different, as I was a Master Smuggler from launch until around JTL or so. But regardless... It's not hard to be accepted as a real smuggler around here. As long as you treat those who were here bfore you with due respect, read some of what's already here, and don't mistreat the profession or give it a bad name, etc, etc. We're all very welcoming to people that want to be a part of the community. It just means that you hve to, in some way, be a positive part. You don't even need to agree all the time-- we've got plenty of people who disagree on a lot of major points, but they're still good community people.

And, of course, buying into the Smuggler mythos and lifestyle helps, too, but it's not so required.

1. Who cares

2. It'll take a few days and all the people that respec'd will realize that even after the CU smuggler isn't that much to crow about. (Until the revamp that is) Then they'll probably respec to whatever ubar 1337 turd #6983 told them was the new FOTM.

For me, it depends entirely on why they're respec'ing.

If they want the specials, cool.
If they want to play a smuggler and slice/sell faction/spice, etc - Cool.
If they respec'd over just so they could slice their own stuff and then respec out again - I'm not going to lift a finger to help 'em.

I'm glad to see there's no elitism among smugglers. I repeced one of my characters from MBE,(try the DNA grind if you think slicing is ugly, at least your weapon doesn't turn around and bite you in the.. you know what) to Master Smuggler and I'm having lots of fun making spice and getting my tools together to start slicing. I'm not even really interested in the combat, although I had to have a Renegade Pistol. I have to agree with others. This silly, "I did it pre-respec, so I'm the true whatever" is going overboard. Everyone who respeced in this game had the skills to do it to begin with and you never know what kind of hellacious grind they had to do to get there. Even if they didn't, it doesn't matter. They had the skills, they just put them elsewhere. If you want to get really technical, those who didn't respec and become smugglers after theRespec Periodwill really have it difficult. The experience costs for Pistol are waaay higher now. I'm sure they'll think they had it harder then all of us. When we're old and gray and out of the business for good we can sit around and moan about who had it worse over drinks.

Looking forward to a long career of less than legal doings!
