Thread: Ok who is charging 1K per slice?!

I got a random tell the other day asking if I could slice there suit of armor real quick. I was in the middle of something and I told them that I would be right with them in a second. Before I go on let me back up 1 sec. I had on my Novice Smuggler tag and I usually charge 5K a slice. I have been tipped more before but I like the 5k price because if they greif me about the slice or refuse to pay I put it on the Bazaar in C-Net for 6K. (My little "up yours" to them). Anyway back to my story. I was finsihing up what I was doing and he then re-tells me "What are you doing I need this done ASAP" then "Come On I will tip pay top dollar". Well he started to get on my nerves and I said I can do the entire set of Comp for 50K. I probably would have done the entire suit for 15K but theguy was pushy. He laughed and said he could get the whole set done for 1K/slice. I told him that he needs to seek out his regular smuggler then and that I was sorrythat we couldn't do business.
What I want to knowis who is sellingSlices for 1K/Slice? Iam not trying to regulate anyone because I am a big beliver of free enterprise but you need to be responsible and not undercut the whole profession.

i charge anywhere from 5k to 25k depending on what i'm doing and how the customer talks to me. but 1k? haven't done that since i had to use fans.

Admitedly I charge whatever they feel like tipping after the slice(s). I honestly have a hard time charging a set rate for a random service. Untill Master Smugglers can have more control over slicing I refuse to have a 'pricelist'. Sometimes this works in my favor and i get tipped way more than i wouldve charged, and sometimes i get nearly insulting tips, its all random really, but so is the slicing so it all works out

First off slicin for tips? Okay man to each is own bro but I rather stick to my 8k and not get tipped than expect random kindness from these cheap skates. That's my opinion and I respect your method but player appreciate the docs more than us.
As for 25k a slice? Damn man let me in on your secret man I need to know.
Finally 1k a slice is a complete joke, this must've been from a guildmate or something. Stick with your rate and don't give in. I'm a Master Smug and I worked for my title and skills. I make my own clamps, knives, WUK's, and I'm working on the AUK part.
Much love to my fellow smugs but don't undervalue yourselves. Docs are chargin 8...10...and even 15k per buff. Your time is valuable, don't rip off people, but don't give it away for free.

My alt is master smuggler and charges 4k per weapon and 25k for a full suit of armor. I'll charge less than 4k if the slice comes out really low, but 1k is out of the question. I was at Fort Tusken recently and saw a doctor there charging 30k for buffs..outrageous. The bad thing is, people were paying for them! I thought to myself that the next time a doctor needed something sliced I'll charge about 3 times the going rate and let him see how it feels.

easy. if they come at me acting like idiots i tell them. half the time they aren't paying attention and i make them pay the 25k after i slice.

I charge 1k per slice when i'm not doing it for free. However, i'm only at slicing 2 and i explain that to the customer before i slice anything for them. Once i'm master i plan on charging 5k tho, so whatever.

It sucks but that's supply and demand. It's brilliant for that doc to have been in that remote location and charge that price. As long as people pay the price it's justified. People stop paying the price then they have to lower it to compete.
Does it mean I'll charge triple for my slicing or other skills if I can get it. Damn right!!! I'm not a choirboy I'm a criminal. If they don't pay they don't pay.

When I was griding (before I found out about buying crates of weapons to work on) I was slicing weapons & contianers for free but would accept tips. I made it a point not to be in the same area as a master looking for work. Now that I've hit slicer, I slice for 3k a piece, when I hit Master I'll up it to 5 or 6k even though I dont think you even hit a slice bonus for making master, but just having the title gives you more street cred to charge more.

Personally I charge 5k per slice period. Full suit or not, my time is valuable. If someone wants a discount and is nice about it I will bargin. if they TELL ME what to charge I say BYE. Most times they catch me waiting for a shuttle and I have missed a number of them slicing goods.
I don't need to waste my time, on people who have NO respect. Someone wants to do it cheaper let them. Two sliced missions on certain planets and I more than make up for it.
P.S. -- I have gotten tips above the reg price, especially if the slice is real good
