Since Jedi and Bhers are using our most useful combat skill to avoid losses of hours of gameplay, i went through this :
Why not make FD only possible when equiping a pistol?
I understand there are plenty of smugglers (among which i am) that mostly use VK or even swords, rifles or flamethrowers, but this skill requires pistol XP doesn't it? And combat balance may make pistols a little bit more valuable (anyway it can't be worse).
Any comment? be constructive please, we have to find something or they will just nerf us once again, and once again without even telling us they'll do, or asking us our advice

considering that we have to have unarmed 4 as a pre req I would find this most annoying as I usually use TK on most things.

i know, i do the same, but i can't see any other "easy" solution, apart from taking FD up to master, but at this moment it wouldn't help anymore novice smugglers to get their way throught the grind.
even with pistols equipped, Jedi would whine because BHers would still be able to FD and not themselves, and that worryes me a bit. Not too much though since i don't know what reason would prevent someone to be a smuggler and a BHer. (for instance BH 4443 and master smuggler, or the other way)

FD needs to be on a tier system. We get FD mods but they don't seem to work. FD should get better as you go up with a HUGE mod at master. That way masters are the only ones why can FD with almost 100% success. Att hat point the skill point coast becomes to much for jedi or BH to get it.

/nods and /bow in front of fishbrains' wisdom.
I didn't think of FD on this way, that was a binary concept for me, but you're perfectly right, and i was perfectly wrong.

IMO, it's the best way of keeping the full power of the skill out of the hands of dabblers and making the master box that much sweeter. Cause really, the master box should be something to REALLY seperate the 4444 smuggler from the master

as far as bounty hunters are concerned
why don't they make it that only masters can hunt jedi. makes it kinda a heftySP cost
as far as jedi....make FD ether a tier system with mods in each box, or move it to master
again increases SP cost

if you move it to master, which i would agree upon the anti dabbling purpose, you prevent every single smuggler wannabee to use this tool to get his pistol XP.
I remember last year (omg, one year!) i had to rely on FD to go up the dirty fight and underworld tree, smuggler was what i wanted to be first, and i wanted badly, so no way to waste XP on pistoleer to get some mods, and if you did the same, you know your special were poor, never landng, and you were shooting slower than a rifleman (ok, you're still shooting slower than a rifleman)and you had to rely on FD to stay alive.
If you want to move it to master, you have to give dirty fighting I something that compensate, that gives you a chance to survive, and then the loop is over, you will allow dabblers to use this chance

It is quite simple how to solve this problem: Who wants to be an Padawan has to get rid of marksman totally. What good is marksman for a Jedi anyway? They do not need it to use those 1337-Flashlights. If this would happen all those BH would stop complaining about FD and we will be nerfed ... ,*cough* sorry, ... will be patched with the combat Revamp.
FD got only into focus, because aBH stumbled over it while trying to kill another Padawan. Funny that all melts down to one fact:Nobody likes loosing, but somebody has to. Still I wonder who decided that smuggler have to take that part again, because there is little hope they will pick up my suggestion.

So tell me why, because all I see ingame are those, who grind for a Jedislot, those who grind their Jedi and a few who are actually doing something strange like playing their profession. To put it straight: This is my point of view. I might got a bit angry about it, but do not regret to say so. For me this is still Star Wars Galaxies and not "Jedi-Online".
Everyone should know, that if they play a Jedi the thread of getting killed in PvP is allways there. The whole system arround Jedi is based on this. If you cannot stand this thread: do not grind for a Jedi. There has to be a downside for beeing the strongest Profession in the whole game.
I do not like to get in the line of fire as a Smuggler, just because Padawans are using FD. I do not want a change in FD now because of that. I want achange for the Padawan. They will change FD anyway when the Combat Revamp is comming and they might also put another Change to it in 2015 when the Smuggler Revamp goes live.

I'm a BH and I agree with this completely - it is frustrating when someone feigns on you, but it is part of "dirty fighting" - it is not supposed to be fair or honorable.
If you guys think you are getting hate on this issue right now just wait till smuggler revamp and the potential for smuggler bounties.
I've never really played a smuggler, so my input may not mean much, but from a gameplay and balance perspective I like the ideas being floated around of giving FD a percentage chance to work and adding percentages as you increase in skill and a big bonus (to bring it to 100%) at master.

that was the previous system, you had to take 250 skill points to be novice padawan, but you knw, that's not fair, that's too hard for their babies, the so much loved jedis. So they put it like a normal profession, with some pre-reqs and so on. on a RP side, you could say a Jedi is not only that, he can only do craft, hand a gun or cut a slice of meat in a bantha, and so they are getting this way.
Now what can we do? obvisouly jedis will want to use it, obviously we don't want them to use it because it will lead to a nerf, and obvisouly, we all know on which side the devs are. What we have to do is find a solution that satisfies every part, and that includes BHers, BHers who don't want anyone to FD at all since they hope they'll chase us too (and so do we, impatient to kick their as...s
).
Make it become better and better along the Dirty Fighting line would work, but still, it's only 14 points.
Have it at master would be too bad for novice smugglers trying to get master (see my experience a few posts above)
Prohibiting Jedi from using any other combat skill would be refused hard and massively, both by jedis and devs who love them.
But the idea of prohibiting some professions to jedis is not so bad, just forbid any other elite profession, you can be a masterbrawler master marksman jedi, but if you are novice padawan you can't bea smuggler,a commando, a TKA, a fencer, a swordsman, a pikeman, a pistoleer, a rifleman, a carbineer a BH, a CM or a SL (got them all i think). How does this sound?

Or the BHs and Jedis could stop whining about it.
There's a good solution.
