Thread: How To: Stop the cries of outrage and Appease the Smuggler Community

Step 1: Be a SWG Developer or Community Relations Representative
Step 2: Say "The Slicing components will be Cargo, or rewards in the upcoming Smuggler missions being realeased in teh next publish"
Step 3(for extra credit): Say "Contraband scans will 'break' Sliced equipment if it is found, and it will need to be repaired by a Smuggler" (honestly even if its repairable by weapon or armorsmiths I'd still be happy cause it would still give risk to carrying Illegal Items)
Step 4: Make it so!

Step 5(If you wish to be declared lord and master of the Smuggler Forum): Hand out Beer, Pie, and Melons after accomplishing Steps 1-4.

I practically Guarentee that if these things are done, The majority of us will be very very happy.

Honestly if what you've put the table right now is the best you can offer for a 'Slicing Revamp' Then you need to change your Company name from SOE to QFE, and I don't mean 'Quoted For Emphasis'

...Breaking upon scans. Now THAT's how it should have been done, not in mid-combat. Also, I agree, slicing components sould be cargo/rewards when we get smuggling in addition to loot, or instead of. Neither even requires new systems. If this went in, I'd be a very, very, veryappeased smuggler.

Steps 1-4 sound awesome. THAT would be a great solution. Can that be done GM? I know it is late in the game but what is the word on something like that?

ok, i love the idea of getting my slicing components as cargo/rewards for smuggler missions. i would certainly HATE the idea of finding random npcs or special elite mobs that drop the good smuggler components.

yup scans are the way to go ... but you wouldn't even need to BREAK them ... just unslice them.

this is by far the best way to go to appease the smuggler community and i'd love to see it go live....that being said i highly doubt we will actually get our way with this, the devs will do what they want without much regard to what we want...yes i am bitter

The Smugglers would then be in more demand for our ability to avoid scans. People would pay us to actually group with us so we could get them by guards.

Oh my god, the break-on-scan idea is awesome. Let me say that again:


The break-on-scan idea is awesome.


I can't believe it hasn't been considered before now (I certainly wouldn't have come up with it) but it is perfect. It eliminates the risk of a player being caught without a weapon mid-fight, it reintroduces the risk and hassle of a contraband scan, and it also brings our ability to evade said scans back to the forefront of the profession.


Best of all, the scanning procedure is already coded into the game, and would just require a little tweak of it and the already coded breakage system. Plus a dramatic increase in frequency, if you want my opinion.


The break-on-scan idea is awesome.

It has been thought of. Someone thought it up and a version of it is the slicing analysis thread (sorry to the author - I dont remember who came up with the first version).
