My mistake. So how do we make sure Greenmarine and the rest see this before they put any more work into their insane loot-centric fallback plan?

This sounds like a fun, rewarding, exciting, and reasonable change to the Smuggler profession.
Therefore the Devs would never do it.

Step 1: Be a SWG Developer or Community Relations Representative
Step 2: Say "The Slicing components will be Cargo, or rewards in the upcoming Smuggler missions being realeased in teh next publish"
Step 3(for extra credit): Say "Contraband scans will 'break' Sliced equipment if it is found, and it will need to be repaired by a Smuggler" (honestly even if its repairable by weapon or armorsmiths I'd still be happy cause it would still give risk to carrying Illegal Items)
Step 4: Make it so!
Step 5(If you wish to be declared lord and master of the Smuggler Forum): Hand out Beer, Pie, and Melons after accomplishing Steps 1-4.
I practically Guarentee that if these things are done, The majority of us will be very very happy.
Honestly if what you've put the table right now is the best you can offer for a 'Slicing Revamp' Then you need to change your Company name from SOE to QFE, and I don't mean 'Quoted For Emphasis'

Don't like the idea of having to campout and kill something repeatedly to get slicing equipment. Love the idea of equipment breaking on scans.

NO spawn camping for slicing tools we USED to craft.
YES on slicing tools and components as smuggler mission rewards.
YES on weapon breakage as a result of failed scans.

I've already posted the updated/modified version of the Slicing Analysis thread under the guise of the community's take on things, with a summary that strongly advises doing effectively what this post suggests (minus the pie, beer and melons I'm afraid).

Hey wes, why not post this into the C-Forums, just to make 100% sure that someone sees it

someone give this man a beer, pie and melon for such thinking. I LOVE the idea, it makes so much sense and like stated elsewhere by everyone it seems lol it brings back a sense of risk to getting scanned plus REPEAT buisness muahahaha
pie?
