Thread: How are we doing on getting player BHs on us?
Ive kinda half read the posts on this, unless i havent come accross it yet, or am just blind. But what happens to the Smuggler if they win against the BH? Any monetary award? Some sort of brownie points to save up and buy smuggler goods??? I love the idea of this whole smuggler thing, its about time something like this happens. Thats why i became one ![]()

I wouldn't mind seeing this come in, but I think it requires more maturity than the current playerbase can handle.
It's strange, but post-CU, my guild BH's are constantly asking me to come assist with their Jedi marks, since I can crowd control the bejeebus out of them, and if they (somehow) get the upper hand, I can Last Ditch em for a whopping amount of damage.
Bring on the BHs. 90% of them are having issues with Jedi....once they encounter a smuggler or two, they'll forget about us and go for the easy Padawan kills =)

If they fix the current issues with bounties on Jedi I wouldn't be quite so adamently against the idea of bringing it to us, but as long as there are the "ganksquads" running around in groups, killing bounty targets with a three-to-one advantage or more I don't like it. You can say it's fun to be chased by a Bounty Hunter and sure, I might agree - but being chased by a Bounty Hunter and his groupis another topic altogether.
Now, as for the consentual and "risk vs. reward" part, I may be in the minority on the issue but I don't see the point in giving a reward to PvPers and leave everyone else out in the cold. I'm not talking a monetary reward, at this point money is pretty much the last thing I care about, but if we're talking about (for the sake of arguement) Glitterstim spice or I don't know, a schematic for a multiple use clamp or whatever, I don't like the idea.
For the record, I'm not saying that there should be no Player Bounties at all, just that in my opinion it should be available to those that wish to do it, but those that don't should not be penalised by missing out on rewards or content (content being the smuggling itself, not the bounties).
I came up with it pre-CU and with the number of MS/MBH running around, it's not quite as valid an option as it used to be. The basics are simple: who's going to want to intercept a smuggler? Another smuggler. So you pit smugglers of opposing organizations against each other with the some players eventually ending up on BH terms. DBs are not encouraged because it's so much better to leave the guy you just bested alive so you can mock him in the cantina

I dont have a problem with it as long as it is consensual that the smuggler is inviting a BH to attack by declaring in some way (not a reduction in reward for being a pve smuggler because pvp is a choice not a reward so both styles should rewarded equally). If pvp is popular amongst the smuggler community then it will work ok though personaly i like to rp my smuggler and unfortunately im in the minority so the people i interact with follows this way of play or i ignore them allowing myself being attacked from a BH would ruin my immersion of a smuggler though i suspect some smuggler may like this.
First get npc BH to work and pursueus to start with and then we can consider pc BH's until then i think we have to leave pc BH's on the back burner because the last thing i would want is a poorly implemented systemdue to pressure from the pvp crowd.
I dont have a problem with pc BH against smugglers as long as it is a choice and doesnt penalise those of us who arepve based players, if smugglers are really up for this then youBH shouldnt find a problem finding marks if the smugglers really arnt up for it then time will reflect this.
The problem with this is im my opinion is the maturity of the current player base and the leet speaking kiddies who are running around "pwing thenewbs" or "YO H4X 4 TEH SUXOR" which is the basis of hate in the jedi vs BH system at present.
For me these need to be done to make aBH systemto work for smugglers:
- Find a way to remove the hate from the jedi vs BH system, i dont want my character to get caught up in this
- Make smuggler missions work properly and bug free
- Makea npc BH system work
- Smugglers need more advanced ways of avoiding a BH beyond feign death, tracking a smuggler should be harder than tracking a a jediis because its our job to avoid being caught
- Allow smuggler who only want to participate with npc BH's a way to do this and get equal rewards for those who choose to be hunted, this seems fair because some smuggler dont want to be forced to pvp and surely if a smuggler wants to get hunted by a pc BH that will be their reward
i think those are fair to be honest they dont remove anything from anyone and allow those who want the excitement of being hunted by pc BH's to have it and those who want to be hunted by npc BH to have that too and no one is penalised for for their choices.
First of all I love the idea of being hunted by Bounty Hunters. But things would have to be different for smugglers than Jedi. It would also be pretty easy to fix these issues:
1) Unline Jedi who can have up to 5 missions on the BH terminals, Smugglers should only have one. This avoids the gank squads that are needed to take down Jedi Knights.
2) Base entering the BH terminals to a higher level combat level for smugglers. If someone has a templet of say level45 or lower they should only be hunted by NPC's. Above that it's a live player.
3) Tracking a Smuggler should be harder than tracking a Jedi. Sneeky is our game.
If these changes would be made I think the system would be fantastic. Alot more exciting that's for sure.
