Ok, as a new smuggler on wanderhome, can you guys and gals, let me know what i should not slice? I was asked to slice a pup and do somthing else but it sounded wrong.

as for pricing i have been told by a few other smugs that 100cp% and free under 20% so if i slice a chest pice of armor at 40% encum its 4k for that slice, does this sound fair?

After seeing what docs get for a 3 hour buff and what we smugglers do for a weapon or armor that last longer i think 100cp% is fair.

Also, i have been asked for faction points, i dont know how to buy it or what it cost, should i rank up to save on the transfer of faction?

I think thats it for now, any help would be great.

Thank's

100cp% fair? No, that's highway robbery, on their side. You should be charging much more for that. Do what I (and a lot of us) do and charge a flat rate. You can easily get anywhere between 5-10k per slice that way. Not many people will argue with that. And if they do, explain to them about the doctor buff thing. 10k+ for a three hour thing compared to something that will last them weeks/months...you get the picture.

Don't ask me about faction points though. I don't deal with that. Too much of a hassle and I don't participate in the GCW.

Forgot something...

If they say it's too much, then screw it. You don't need the money that bad and you'll always have customers. As a master smuggler, you don't need any more slicing xp so it's no sweat off your back. Just tell them that it's their problem and send them on their merry way.

Well...you should charge whatever makes you happy. Charge as much as you can get away with is my motto. But find what's best for you.

Don't: believe that the slice is your fault. If you used a clamp and you're a master smuggler, then you can do no better.

Don't: believe that it's a bad slice. It's better than when they gave it to you. I offer free slices under 20% but that's a business desicion. There ARE no bad slices.

I agree that 100cr/% is to cheap. Smugglers have been neglecting themselves to long. I've been doing 200cr/% and have only had maybe 2 complaints, but they took my slices anyway.

It's the same old fact, a 3 hour buff is 10k, surely people can afford a 6k slice.

And since noone has said it. The slicing a weapon with a pup was/is an exploit and bannable. It's supposed to be fixed but someone may have found a way around.

As for faction points, don't even worry about it unless you have Col. rank in either Rebels or Imperials. Otherwise it isn't worth dealing with.

I have found if you just ask them to tip u what they want, most people tip very very well. I usually get between 8-15k a slice this way, people having armor sliced is just a bit on the cheaper side though, usually 25k for a set of composite. Every once in a while you'll hit that perfect slice for the rich guy who will tip you 50-100k. I havent had any complaints... and I'm not complaining.

just adding my opinion on this topic =) I received good advice from a friend (and Master Smuggler) right after I hit master myself and I stick with it.

4k per slice and "free" is not in my vocabulary =P

I charge 5k per slice. If I see someone without any badges I'll usually offer them a discount, because I know I'd have appreciated that when I started out. Other than that, if someone stiffs me out of credits, their item goes on the bazaar. Haven't had to do that yet....but I admit it will be funny when I do

what ever you do dont slice a smugglersunit! (sorry joke from another thread, i could not resist)

Charge what you are comfortable with just keep in mind 100 credits per % is like 1927 bread prices, way out of date.

Well, I charge a flat 4k (3k for Guildies) per slice whatever it may be for - weapons, armour or crates.

If you do the math on what it actually costs to buy the materials and add 'your time and skill' and add 'benefit to customer' you make a healthy profit quite easily.

I say charge what you want to charge and be your own man.

I'm charging 8k a slice now flat rate, maybe I'll go to 10k. If the customer wants it done they'll pay. If I'm desperate enough for a buff I'll pay 15k instead of 10k (which is the current average). If the client has the money for the weapon they have the money for the slice, no "if...ands...or buts".

My advise is if you can make a good profit from it charge what you want. Try and make friends and get return clients, give your regulars "a deal" on bulk items and they'll treat you right. Be fair and firm with the new clients...and please please make sure they pay (use the trade window and tell them only to exchange items and creds this way is my advice). Tell them prices and procedure (pay in trade window) up front.

If they complain...keep their weapons until they pay. If they don't /ignore and sell the item(s).

just my humble opinion,

You actually charge your guildmates? I have a M Doc as my main char, and my guild is pretty small (only around 20 people) and a very tight knit group of people. I dont charge them for anything, and am often giving away free resources or aid to any that need it. The whole guild is like that, it's like a small family. Maybe it's different with larger guilds, or ones that aren't as ... tight? but I wouldn't think of charging them for any service.
