Feign Death is currently despised under a large portion of the Bounty Hunter community, and I am sure it is equally despised in the Jedi community, but one thing must be made clear. Feign death is not a Bounty Hunter skill, nor is it a Jedi skill. It is a smuggler skill.
Yes, Smugglers. You know, those guys who slice your weapons for you and give you back your expensive weapons back to you. These guys are the ones who will slice your full suit of armor without any notice.
These are the guys that SOE has been pushing back their revamp forever, and many still hang on, similar to Master Bounty Hunters.
These are the guys who have to put up with anyone being allowed to do "Smuggling" missions in space (yes I know its only in name, but the idea that SOE would name something smuggling and not make it smuggler only is offensive to many).
So please, dont cry to nerf Feign Death. Smugglers have just been screwed by the auto-pull nerf, and they dont need anything else. If anything, Feign Death should be moved to a higher level, or worked on a bit... but it shouldnt be nerfed out of PvP or PvE like many want it.
So please, think of the smugglers.
Edit: Wow, I am such a foo'. Meant to put it in the BH forum, oh well.

Or should still be ballanced in such a way that dabblers who only take Dirty Fighting I or II have very high chance of failling their FD.
There ARE ways to solve that "FD problem" without nerfing our profession to Kessel mine and back.

doesnt stunned state prevent you from FD ?
I think that the only thing is being kd. I am not 100% though on that.

My biggest issue with FD is the fact that its an insta-'you lose' button that is hard to overcome. You need to have a DoT weapon or a stun on your opponent to prevent them from using it.
If they do manage to Feign Death, the only way to break it is to get a Jedi Healer to come remove the state.
There needs to be a way to defeat FD that isn't SO specific... or well, more ways for other professions to have a chance to remove it.
Maybe warning shot since its pretty high in an unused tree... only people I know who get ranged support III are the ones going CM, Bounty Hunter, Commando, or Squad Leader. Most others get Ranged Support I... if even that. And it shouldn't instantly break it either, maybe force another skill roll/chance check/whatever you want to call it. Which means those with Dirty Fighting I will prolly end up having their FD broke quickly while a Master Smuggler can lay there all day long.
This enables dabblers to use it in large scale PvP because if you see a corpse you are going to assume its actually a corpse and not take the time to use warning shot when they have other live targets. As soon as the enemy runs by going after someone else, the FDer can jump up and run off alive and well. Similar situation with PvE since I don't think the NPCs actually ever use such an attack and they ignore you if you are dead.
Seems like a fair trade off... although the brawler professions sorta get screwed if we use warnshot. Maybe intimidate II should do the same thing or just let the melee professions have to dabble to break it? Just a suggestion.
Comments, please.

Unless they changed it since last week then it does stop FD... although it means the attacker has to stop firing.
Doing a test I had my wife firing a dot weapon at me and then stop firing... DOT kept ticking and I couldn't FD.

Nick/N'Joh (whichever you prefere), I feel for you in that thread, people are just ingoring what you're saying in general (As Per Usual)......
Even RunningRoutes, who seems to be one of the few that read anything you said has missed the point...

Trust me, I haven't missed the point. I fully support giving some love to the Smuggler profession... along with Squad Leader, Commando, etc.
Many of the things I would like to see added to the game is additional content for the smugglers. Make player made bounties, but give smugglers the ability to slice the terminals and thus remove a player from the terms.
Buffs fixed so spice actually means something. I only use pixie when I need a quick buff; and I haven't found a real use for the rest of the stuff.
As much as smugglers should be hunted by Bounty Hunters, they should also be our allies in some ways as they are part of the underworld and BHs might do legal bounty hunting... but sometimes they take 'off the record' work... if you get my meaning. Smugglers and Bounty Hunters should be enemies who find each other useful and thus a real balancing act between the two professions should exist in roleplay. God knows I depend on slices.
Smuggler needs some love; it does not need a nerf. However, as FD currently stands: it is an overpowered ability and needs to be fixed in some way. See what I'm saying?
