And exactly why should smugglers be integral in buying bases in the first place? Maybe in delivering materials and computers and crap to the hidden rebel base on planet XXX... or some experimental weaponry to an imp base that isn't supposed to be fortfying... but that's about as close as I can come to justifying having *anything* to do with base building to be perfectly honest. Even things like floor plans and suth its the bothans that die to steal the info, not the smugglers actively stealing it.
If they want to really fix the system, they're going to have to look at things like this and if smugglers lose some territory on the fation perk side so be it.

well... he has a point there. It does seem a little strange that an architect can assemble every building in the game except faction bases. Obviously, the way to keep everyone happy would be to make the bases like the new factional armor: schematics from recruiters, building by artisians. I don't see why something like this should be a problem.

/sigh
If you going to start talking at a higher level about design changes and professional roles as we are here then no, its not a discussion of slicing and base selling vs. just slicing... we have post after post about building up smuggling with a thriving underworld, new missions, changing the role of spices in the galaxy, beefing up space and itnegrating it with the ground, etc. etc. etc.
I'm not in favor of taking away our current skills and leaving us with nothing, but at the same time I am very in favor of dumping things that aren't really smuggler roles or skills and picking up things that are more smuggler like. Helping The Empire expands its stronghold on Naboo has jack to do with the underworld, smuggling, seedy business dealings, hedging your bets, playing both sides for personal gain, runnig from Jabba, etc. etc.

FP sales are currently the best 'smuggler type' thing we get IMO.

Faction selling is a criminal activity. I'm bribing an officer with credits to hook me up.

A criminal activity perpitrated by a high ranking military official - NOT a smuggler. Every day theres a post on this forum that we're not drug dealers or dope pushers, but somehow its ok to just "be some kinda criminal" when its making us money?
