Thread: To make us a 5 in Crowd control..

There are fear skills in WoW but I'm unaware of of the one which you refere to. It's probably a priest skill in the shadow magic line if it exists though.
I love being a commando/smuggler but I honestly find myself using my renegade more then my flamer... the flamer just seems to pick up a shizer load of aggro when all you want it a couple. I suppose it wouldn't be all too much of a problem if the AOE damage actually worked instead of just pulling agro. Either way, AoE is all commandos have aside from pretty particle effects. It need not be given away.

I think that without true AoE damage, Commando is MUCH, MUCH more of a liability in PvE. In PvP..... in PvP...it works better than anything I have EVER seen to be able to lay states on large groups of enemies.

only problem is.. with Commando
you may lay states on them, but unless you can control 10 lvl 80 creatures at once... yea
Not me. If I see an out of control commando in our group, I FD like a mofo rofl. Let everyone else be stupid enough to stick around.
There was only one time when I was scared, and that's when I was FD under a krayt dragon with only 1 person with me. I was eventually turned into food. was great.
Note: This will be an exact quote, and was made well before the CURB hit, so parts can be ignored, such as referring to buffs.

Okay, you guys are wanting an escape special to replace Feign Death, I have it.
/distract
Distract would work in PvE and PvP similar to /rescue, but instead of pulling the aggro of a MOB away from another PC or NPC, you move it from yourself to another PC or NPC("It him! He is the one that made me do it!"). This is not 100% guaranteed to work every time and it comes with
Scenario #1
Two factioned teams are fighting. Rebel Smuggler is being attacked by Imperial Pikeman and is getting close to dropping. Rebel Smuggler selects a player or NPC nearby that is also attackable by Imperial Pikeman(meaning anything not Imperial). This will show two targets on the screen, the combat target(which has the gold selection box around it) and the selected target(which has the blue selection box). After selecting who to use as the distraction, Rebel Smuggler uses /distract and Imperial Pikeman's combat target is switched over to Rebel TKM. Imperial Pikeman is now technically in combat with Rebel TKM, Rebel Smuggler has started to run, and has hit /peace. Imperial Pikeman is in the middle of a short delay before he can switch combat targets again.
Scenario #2
Imperial Smuggler is forced to travel through a Rebel town and starts to be scanned by a lone Rebel. The Rebel Scanner finds he's an Imperial and forces him into Combatant status and initiates combat. Imperial Smuggler thinks quickly, and uses distract with a nearby thug of some sort. This will switch the Rebel NPC's combat from Imperial Smuggler to the Thug NPC, giving the Smuggler a chance to escape.
Scenario #3
Neutral Smuggler is traveling across Dantooine when he gets jumped by an Untrained Wielder of the Dark Side, and loses his swoop, but manages to feign. Neutral Smuggler is unbuffed and in a hurry. He spots a Dantari within thirty meters, so he /distracts the UWoDS with the Dantari, then uses /peace. Calls a spare vehicle and rides off.
To balance this skill, you can't use /distract more than once every couple of minutes, sorta like how /iffscramble works in space. Also, noone can't use /distract more than once on a single target every eight minutes or so.
I've never used Feign Death in PvP unless I was forced Overt. Now that even when we're found to be Rebels or Imperials by scans, we won't be forced Overt(technically, both Combatant and SpecForces are "Overt", just the difference between PvP capable and not), and going SpecForces will now have consequences. I would use a skill like /distract in PvP, as its not a weenie move its more like a "Look! It says gullible on the ceiling!" move.
Its always seemed like something a Smuggler would do.

The fear he probably heard about in WoW is the warriors AE fear. I love running into the middle of a bunch of alliance peeps and poping it off....I don't love getting eaten afterwards, but it has turned the tide of battle a couple of times.
Anyways, I would love a fear in this game. It would add alot of flavors to smugglers.
To be 5 we need area attacks. Or we don't have Crowd in our Control. Yes we can take up Commando, but that shouldn't be a requirement.
Like said before Panicshot should be like it was before, an are attack with a delay.
And others that I don't want to type out now cause it is time for lun
I think that in order to be a 5 in Crowd Control we need to be able to make our targets do whatever we want. I can see it now....
Smuggler: I said dance! /danceShot2
Target: Ow! *begins to moonwalk*
Smuggler: I hate that moonwalking sh!t! /pointBlankHipHop
Target: Owie! *does the Robot*
Smuggler: Ugh, that's even worse. Enough dancing! Pretend you're a rabbit! /hippityHoppityArea1
Target: Ungh! *gets on all fours, chews a carrot, hops around and leaves little pellets behind*
Smuggler: That's right, Mr. Jedi... Who's your Daddy?

How about replacing /Panicshot with a special call /wildfire.
When you use it you get a little buff icon for 10 seconds. While you have the buff icon up any fireing or specials that you do would fire in a cone in front of you.

I like that, but I see that not happening. At least not with Last Ditch... But what a great sight that would be...
A true 5 in crowd control minimum requirements.
