Thread: To make us a 5 in Crowd control..
As for 1, i thikn we should get the root shot ourselves.... in supplement to the concussion: root stops one (no moving, perfect against melee), concussion: disables one (good vs ranged, and combat for example)

Just a thought,
with concussion shot getting fixed we are a bit better at crowd control i think but probably not a 5
Its been suggested that to be a five we need a root as well and probably a kd..
I think that we'd do better not just copying other prof abilities but maybe picking up something new and unique.. two thoughts i had were
1. Not just a root, but an area root or an area mezz would be cool too. Nothing like a retarded 40 second root, but something comparable to stopping shot but hitting a tight cone in front of the target. I know you can do this effect by taking commando levels to use AoE weapons, but i dont think that is really in the flavor of smuggler, would be nice if you didnt have to.
2. A Fear efect (please dont flame me for using EQ speak, they are callin concussion a mez)) It would be great to be able to make a target flee for a set period of time. remeber Han in ANH chasing that squad of ST down the hallway in the deathstar when they were rescuing Leia.... Han rules. not sure if this poses huge coding problems or would work in pvp or not.
There's my two cents
Well, I honestly think that if you want the AoE, you need to invest in Commando. It is the only thing that the profession really DOES right now, hehe. It would be like giving everyone the ability to slice or smuggle. Oh yea, sometimes Commando AoE really botches stuff up in PvE, but I digress.
I like the second skill quite alot. Isn't there a skill in World of Warcraft that causes an enemy to run uncontrollably away from you? I have heard of friends who use this skill to "scare" PvP enemies into dangerous creatures when they were in a pinch. As much as I hate to say it, I think this would double as a Jedi skill (mind trick) as well.
There are fear skills in WoW but I'm unaware of of the one which you refere to. It's probably a priest skill in the shadow magic line if it exists though.
I love being a commando/smuggler but I honestly find myself using my renegade more then my flamer... the flamer just seems to pick up a shizer load of aggro when all you want it a couple. I suppose it wouldn't be all too much of a problem if the AOE damage actually worked instead of just pulling agro. Either way, AoE is all commandos have aside from pretty particle effects. It need not be given away.

Haha. that'd be great! "He did it!" /giggle.

Okay, you guys are wanting an escape special to replace Feign Death, I have it.
/distract
Distract would work in PvE and PvP similar to /rescue, but instead of pulling the aggro of a MOB away from another PC or NPC, you move it from yourself to another PC or NPC("It him! He is the one that made me do it!"). This is not 100% guaranteed to work every time and it comes with
Scenario #1
Two factioned teams are fighting. Rebel Smuggler is being attacked by Imperial Pikeman and is getting close to dropping. Rebel Smuggler selects a player or NPC nearby that is also attackable by Imperial Pikeman(meaning anything not Imperial). This will show two targets on the screen, the combat target(which has the gold selection box around it) and the selected target(which has the blue selection box). After selecting who to use as the distraction, Rebel Smuggler uses /distract and Imperial Pikeman's combat target is switched over to Rebel TKM. Imperial Pikeman is now technically in combat with Rebel TKM, Rebel Smuggler has started to run, and has hit /peace. Imperial Pikeman is in the middle of a short delay before he can switch combat targets again.

Instead of a fear skill, how about my old "Distract" skill I proposed a little while back? Let me quote it for you guys.
Note: This will be an exact quote, and was made well before the CURB hit, so parts can be ignored, such as referring to buffs.

Its always seemed like something a Smuggler would do.
