Thread: Is smuggler concussion shot broken like paralyze?

I respeced to Carbineer/Smuggler 4030 Medic. Been have a good time with it. However with a fix for paralyze on the way I want to know if the cuncussion shot ability , in which movement and attacks are paused will be included in this fix that breaks Mezz upon damage.
I know cuncussion has a timer, so I dont see why it should be changed. Possibly for pvp, only thing i would change is that a 2nd, or 3rd etc, application of the special to the same target would lessan the duration of it, or chance of it sticking.

concussion shot is a root, not a paralyze. So, in theory, this patch should not affect it. If it does, what good is crowd control?

Concussion shot: "This ranged attack ability dazes an opponent completely stopping their ability to move or attack for a short period of time. Any damage done to the target during that time will bring them back to their sense and allow them to react again."

This is correct, but I wonder if it also means any damage done buy DoT's...?

I doubt it, think of it this way, the Devs would need to fix concussion shot so that it actually works like intened before they "nerf" it where as Paraylze is working "better" then intened hence needing the nerf.

Yeah I wish they would hurry up and fix concussion to the mez its suppose to be. Root is pretty good but id like to put some people on pause.

If concussion shot becomes the Paralyze it is discribed as in the discription then yes it should be broken when any damage occurs.
As it currently is, concussion shot is a Root and therefor should not break on damage. In my opion.

maybe I'm the only one, but I love the long root times with the concussion shot. I'd rather they leave it as is than add a paralyze and decrease the time or lose the effect at damage.

I think we are fine. This was to deal witht he whole CM Rifleman spam paralyze. I seriously had duels where I couldnt move. Sorry but if smuggler is supposed to be crowd control, how com I was the one being dragged about by a mrm.

I agree. The fact that Concussion shot is working the way it is accounts for nearly all of our CC ability. Even were the others all working, I believe it would still account for at least 80%. "Fixing" it to work as intended would, I think, make us essentially useless without a bunch of other changes. Yes, it would let us stop added aggro from entering the fight, which is useful in some ways... but we can do that with the root, and there's something else to consider: Aggro management seems pretty much non-existant. I've never seen a taunt do a bit of good in fixing aggro to someone that can tank(like a TKM). The only thing that keeps a L82 mob from breaking loose and devouring one of the damage-dealers(like a squishie rifleman, or heck, say... US) is rooting it out where it can't reach, and hoping it lasts long enough(Snares help, but don't last long enough, and you have to pay attention to your running, too). Panic Shot/LB in a combo, perhaps, could pin something down nicely... except they aren't working, and they wouldn't last long enough in a prolonged fight, either.
And with aggro the way it is, I think it's possibly essential to a well-rounded hunting group(IE: Not all tanks or soemthing) that we have this ability to offer. I don't care about the mez. Fix panic shot-- it does that, in theory. Make this the official Concussion Shot.

Does this mean that they should be able to MOVE? or just be able to ATTACK? See the difference? If damage brings them OUT of a root, and the one rooted gets "unrooted"...then we cannot "mezz" effectivly if there is a commando around. We might be able to Root something, then if a Commando uses any of his cone weapons, he will bring them ALL out of root and on thegroup. But Im seeing concussion shot as "working the way it should", you hit with a Root, and if you do not hit them again, they cannot attack, but if you hit them again, they CAN attack BUT at a range, and still cannot MOVE until the ROOT is done, which sucks for melee...
Ive had NPCs Rooted, I would get out of thier pistol range, and they would TAKE OUT A CARBINE. To continue to blast me with.
I will test ingame, if you hit with JUST a ROOT, and then stop shooting, what happens, and giev an update to confirm. I will try this on NPCs that utilize ranged weapons, so that IF they can STILL ATTCK BUT NOT MOVE we will be able to see if this work.

Last time I tried it, they'd still attack. But that was back on Test, so who knows. Didn't see any patch notes on it ever, though.

I was on the recieving end of Paralyze last night and it was not fun. I ended up Last Ditching this cat for like 2k but it wasn't enough and I ended up in the clone center. Good to see it's being brought in line.
I hope they fix our specials thatare REALLYbroken- like Low Blow and leave the specials that are kinda broken- like Concussion shot, alone.
