Hi folks - me again.

This is really just a question to the the community about what we expect to come out of the summit in Austin. Caylin has submitted, on numerous occassions, in great detail, the list of quick fixes we're looking for. I think Caylin has been thorough enough that we don't really need to discuss those again - other than the new nerfs handed out in the last few weeks .

What do we think the outcome will be?

-"Wait, who's that guy?"

-"I'm Caylin"

-"Who?"

-"The Smuggler Correspondent"

-"They actually have a correspondent? I thought there were just 5-6 smugglers per Server.

(to Blackman: "Did I miss something, I thought Smuggler is absolutly no fun to play?")

It's not IF I can do it, it's HOW MUCH you're willing to pay.

Lol- I was sort of expecting these repsonses, but seriously folks, what do we actually expect to come out of Austin - if the answer really is nothing, and it may be, after all the work by both Caylin and the Community, then it 's says somethign very sad about the state of the game and the developers working on it.

Let me frame my own attitude, after all the BS we've gone through-

RED MIST DESCENDING, URGE TO KILL RISING.....

The devs are luckyI live in Scotland - the worst thing I can do is post a Haggis to them.......

Well, aslong as the corresondents don't all go mental with the Devs and massacre the staff at Austin, I'm expecting they'll start off by telling the devs the same damn things they've been telling them via the correspondents forum for the last year. The Devs will nod sagely, politely smiling, then dissapear to whisper amongst themselves.

"So....... what you're saying is.. and let me get absolutely straight on this matter, what you're saying is, you want and think everyone else in your profession wants, to be able to smuggle?"

"................YES."

"Wow.. ok. Are you sure?"

"So....... what you're saying is.. and let me get absolutely straight on this matter, what you're saying is, you want and think everyone else in your profession wants, to be able to be able to kill things with a pistol.... and for combat to be Star Wars like in that blasters are the weapon of choice not fists or pointy things?"

"................YES."

"Wow.. ok. Are you sure?"

etc...

I'm an atheist to be honest, but I'm praying for Caylin at the Summit. I can just see a "Wait for the Combat Revamp" and "Wait for the Smuggler Revamp" quote all rolled into one.

"Wait for the Smuggbat Revamp"

Smuggbat, I like that

The least that they can due is provide us with some lube before they bend us over again...

And Bilands, I think sending Haggis is akin to Chemical warfare...

My take is this.

We will be mostly focused on Combat Balance through the duration when everyone isn't getting drunk, eating texas BBQ and talking of hotpants.

Some of the correspondents will have secret agendas to get more information in addition to what we are trying to accomplish.

I'll have tolure Greenmarineto a secret location with sake, where I'llstart getting info for smugglers Spanish Inquisition style.

Out of thefew days there, I anticipate one real day of work done on the correspondents' part.

There is going to be 30 odd correspondents there, all of us on our own agenda. Yet I have the distinct feeling the devs will keep us on whatever it is they want us to focus on, while impressing on us the difficulty of development for a game of this scale.

On a side note though: Haggis is really good. Don't sell it short just by looking at the ingredients. I was eating that stuff everyday when I was staying in Scotland a couple years back. Delicious.

I really don't get the point of this summit...

The point of the summit is to go over the combat balance overview and implementation details.

The correspondents not only represent their professions, but also their communities. They also know the game very very well.

The summit is to talk about the Combat Balance details and as a whole. It is to answer questions, go over the details and set up a plan to start testing this on a Combat Balance sandbox (server). It will be very focused.

Before the summit, I will have 1, maybe 2 vision docs to share with the community. What we will come out of this with is that the correspodents will get a chance to understand the coming changes so they can be understood and communicated. It is also to hear what the correspondents have to add to the discussion.

After that, we'll see posts by the correspondents and then we will get prepped for the sandbox server. I've already spoken with the team and we are also going to add the correspondents Top 5 picks from each profession to also come on to the sandbox server and take part in the testing.

We are going to hold you to this. Do not come back 3 months from now and change this to "from each combat profession."

thanks
