The correspondents not only represent their professions, but also their communities. They also know the game very very well.
The summit is to talk about the Combat Balance details and as a whole. It is to answer questions, go over the details and set up a plan to start testing this on a Combat Balance sandbox (server). It will be very focused.
Before the summit, I will have 1, maybe 2 vision docs to share with the community. What we will come out of this with is that the correspodents will get a chance to understand the coming changes so they can be understood and communicated. It is also to hear what the correspondents have to add to the discussion.
After that, we'll see posts by the correspondents and then we will get prepped for the sandbox server. I've already spoken with the team and we are also going to add the correspondents Top 5 picks from each profession to also come on to the sandbox server and take part in the testing.
Next time you're back in Buffalo TH, me and the boys are going to have a Player Summit. We're not above plying you with booze, and you know the food's worth it.
But seriously, of the folks I know who continue to play, they do so with the forlorn hope that your development team comes back to the game at hand and lives up to well, just about anything, they've promised.
During the server reset friday morning, my buddy and I were on the phone waiting for play to resume, and we were surfing other games to see what our alternatives were. He's almost as die-hard as I am, it's a bad sign.

Will this sandbox server be called "Sandbox'?
Bisola
The "sandbox" is a development server from alpha and early beta testing. Its basicly just like tattoine, except any MOB can be spawned there. Its used for the primary tests that game mechanics go through.

My take is this.
We will be mostly focused on Combat Balance through the duration when everyone isn't getting drunk, eating texas BBQ and talking of hotpants.
Some of the correspondents will have secret agendas to get more information in addition to what we are trying to accomplish.
I'll have tolure Greenmarineto a secret location with sake, where I'llstart getting info for smugglers Spanish Inquisition style.
Out of thefew days there, I anticipate one real day of work done on the correspondents' part.
There is going to be 30 odd correspondents there, all of us on our own agenda. Yet I have the distinct feeling the devs will keep us on whatever it is they want us to focus on, while impressing on us the difficulty of development for a game of this scale.
On a side note though: Haggis is really good. Don't sell it short just by looking at the ingredients. I was eating that stuff everyday when I was staying in Scotland a couple years back. Delicious.

I think he showed up more as damage control than anything else.
However, it was a shock to see any dev post here.
Damage control? In the Smugglers Forum? Oh come now, everyone knows us smugglers can't do any damage...
