Oops. What I meant to say was:


There's hardly any talk of templates on this board. Aside from picking MS and <insert ranged weapon here> what else is viable? I was looking at going up 2 trees in TKA. Is that viable or a bad idea all around? What are some other options? Is it evenworth it to master a full weapon specialization?

I personally just like to make some sarcastic BS up as I'm kina sick seeing that question, especially since people can generally see that information from others sigs.

I probably should have been a little clearer. All the templates I see mainly consist MBH or M<ranged weapon> What are some other feasable temps? Does it make sense to try and take a little bit of advantage of our "forced" melee tree and expound on the brawler aspect? Smuggler/Doctor? I don't see a lot of variation is all...

...but if you must I would recommend commiting to it all the way- Go TKM- get rid of your armor. Use Concussion to root and then fun up and pummel the hell outta someone. Maybe even master Brawler while you are at it.




But there is ALWAYSMaster Debater. It doesn't even cost any SP.

i dont think there is a huge gain from going melee with MS as all smuggler combat specials are for ranged combat. Unless of course, you want smuggler for slicing/spices/FP etc.

I personally settled for whats in my sig, but the main thing is to choose what you like in terms of playing style. they are fairly balanced believe it or not. and while there is no Uber template.. that was the point of the CU. all profs work extremely well in grps as was intended. i can get pwned by lower level mobs when there are too many of them as commando aggros all things in range.. but when grpd.. im awesome. and of course there is still the option to solo if you choose your weapons well.

That said, the resepec does bring other issues.. because you dont have to grind a prof, you dont get fully comfortable with how it works until you play it for a long time.. im still learning now as I respecced to commando from pistols, but every respec i did, i missed certain aspecs of the proffesion i gave up (never gave up Smuggler of course ). so give it a whirl, and see what happens. but remeber the goals of the CU... to balance profs and to encourage groups.

As the first guy to give you grief I think it only fair to give you some encouragement as well, hehe.


I'm a Master Smuggler, TKM with the rest in other ranged (in rifle now, but thinkin of goin back to pistol/novice Commando). I love it, I can stop, and kill level 84 krayts and nightsisters solo, very handy in a group for most needs, and I win a good portion of my duels, at least 60% say.


Flexibility is the key with this setup, gotta be fast on the hotkey buttons. My favorite trick when not rooting or when fighting ranged in general, is droppin my gun real quick to CoB then picking it right back up. you can't beat maxed out defense


Besides, like Hotdog intimated, nothin says class like a smuggler runnin and gunninin clothes instead of armor, feels much more star warsy.


oh, and to go with the theme the thread seems to be taking... Master DeBater is fun, but the problem is that it's strictly a solo proffesion
