I'm a Master Smuggler, TKM with the rest in other ranged (in rifle now, but thinkin of goin back to pistol/novice Commando). I love it, I can stop, and kill level 84 krayts and nightsisters solo, very handy in a group for most needs, and I win a good portion of my duels, at least 60% say.

Flexibility is the key with this setup, gotta be fast on the hotkey buttons. My favorite trick when not rooting or when fighting ranged in general, is droppin my gun real quick to CoB then picking it right back up. you can't beat maxed out defense

Besides, like Hotdog intimated, nothin says class like a smuggler runnin and gunninin clothes instead of armor, feels much more star warsy.

oh, and to go with the theme the thread seems to be taking... Master DeBater is fun, but the problem is that it's strictly a solo proffesion

This is pretty much what I was alluding to. To me, the idea of a smuggler has always been someone who is proficient with a blaster, but can mix it up in melee when need be. I think it's something that SOE originally had in mind as well by making one of the smuggler prerequisites Unarmed from the brawler tree. Also, if you look at Dirty Fighting, there are bonuses to fighting unarmed as well as melee defense.
That's what it seems like to me at least.

Any other MS's with melee skills out there?
