Smuggler Archive
Thread: This is the saddest SWG day of my life...
I won't laugh when I see Saarek post about something funny, or SpinningCloud make a razor-witted crack towards SOE, because they won't be here after long...the fact of the matter is that I'm enraged.
SOE, you're probably not going to read this...but if you do, why do you (or LucasArts) feel the need to treat us the way you do? Honestly, I think many of us would be totally satisfied with a post saying, "We can't post details since they might change, but we're working on something, and we'll get the docs out to you as soon as we can."
Why does the playerbase continue to be treated like dog **** on a sidewalk? Why do you think that Jedi are your pathway to success? This is a community...Entertainers and Crafters have made this community a hundred times more "fun" and "exciting" than any amount of Jedi you can throw at me...and you've decimated their numbers by taking their complexity and their usefulness away from them.
Do you know what I would pay if I knew that when I logged in, I would happen across a blooming, colorful community of people, all different and unique? More than any Jedi is willing to pay to swing that coveted glowstick, that's for sure. But you've funneled everyone into Jedi, because that's what you think the 'end game' should be. I remember when I used to log in and talk to at the keyboard dancers in Theed cantina...I remember when people thought my roleplaying a Smuggler was cool...I remember when being a Master of any crafting profession used to mean something special...whoever is running the show over there, you need a serious reality check. I bet you haven't even played this game for longer than 10 minutes (and on a fully templated Jedi to boot.) You wouldn't understand the beautiful intricacies of a community that relies on eachother for fun. I miss having to speak to an AS to get AUKs crafted. Now I can go alone and get them myself. Breaking up the community isn't the way to fix this game, bringing us back together is. I'll admit that the CU was a step in the right direction for grouping and community, but is that it? You're just going to focus on how to make Jedi more "fun" (because in the end you're convinced that just about everybody will be one?)
The best people you've ever had working on this game have left, with the exception of maybe one or two. I wonder why they left...were they angry about the way the playerbase was being treated? Were they upset that something a profession was promised didn't happen, which made them look like the villain? Did they simply get disgusted about the direction the game was heading in? We'll probably never know. But there's one thing I know...if I ever worked on this game, I would look around at each profession's forum boards and immediately understand that the community is in need of serious attention (not a couple of bandaids.) Giving a Dancer a couple of props isn't going to make the community stronger. It seems as if the game is headed in a very specific direction...one that removes dependency on other professions. That's only something that takes away from what made this game great when I started playing it. I love interacting with other people, I love talking to someone in a cantina, I love Star Wars.
But this isn't Star Wars. It stopped being Star Wars when someone high up decided that the community wasn't the highest priority.
/tiphat
Im sad to say i agree with you this has also been a very depressing day while ive been looking through the boards, though its not just the smuggler board which is alight with disappointment.
SOE doesnt appear to want to work on anything other than jedi and BH right now and while all the rest of us pay our money to be ignored and have development time diverted away from our respective professions its beyond a joke right now and the lack of comunication shows us that SOE couldnt care less.
The reason i stay is because of a really good bunch of guildies and the social aspects of this game but even with this i would say i spend more time on the forums than i do ingame because as we all watch how BH and jedi get changed and tweaked we just sit here waiting patiently and to be honest patients is really starting to fade and be replaced with anger throughout these boards.
So many of the community see that the problem is the lack of focus and variation to the "normal" professions and pub 20 reinforces this, the only time a "normal" profession is touched is because a jedi asks it to be changed because someone has worked out how to use the skills they have to beat a jedi.
I would continue but like with most posts which arnt in the jedi forum it will be ignored so to be honest why bother..............................
I remember going to see the movies for only one reason... to see Harrison Ford play HAN SOLO, the ONLY character in the movies as long as I am concerned.

I would be really surprised if they banned me, considering I'm Media...it's my job to spread the truth, isn't it?
Truth be told,I'd like to see some of the truth spread into some of the gaming mags. Maybe then SOE will sit up and take notice, but I doubt it.
If you are a writer or have the ear of one, time for some truth....
