The game is so "for" Imperials.

Imperials get troopers ATSTs and 80% of game content is surrounded by imperials everywhere

Rebels get......troopers.......that's it.

Now, as for smuggler....in starwars...what is it? Normally neutral smugglers....or rebel friendly smugglers (Han Solo).

In this game...what's the best choice? IMPERIAL smuggler? Why? Because if you're caught...you pay a lil fine.

Why can't they add a bonus for neutral smugglers, a and a penalty for Imperial smugglers?

The game pretty much pushes you into having to be an imperial smuggler. You get faction stuff as a smuggler, so you might as well join a faction....so neutral it out of the picture. Rebel vs Imp.....hmmm...imp you get an ATST plus only fines if caught.

Please....

What good reasons are there to stay neutral (outside of no-pvp)or go rebel?

well you have to remember the time period here. The imperials are the main power in the galaxy, and a re stronger, more numerous, and better equipped than the rebels. and as long as youre an imperial officer, you dont get penalized during scans. plus if you check rebs outnumber imperials on almost every server, so people need a reson to be imp

being a rebel smuggler is SUPPOSED to be risky you know, and underworld gives a bonus to dodge scans.

its also an RP aspect of which faction youre part of.

All I ever see are imps imps imps imps...I never see any rebels...

You said it yourself. If you're an imperial, you don't have to worry about being scanned....so what reason is there to not go imperial? It just doesn't make sense.

Not to mention, all I ever see are imperials everywhere and rarely rebels.

A reason to go imperial? ATST + risk-free smuggling

I dont really understand why anyone is a rebel outside of roleplaying.

Stop your whining. This game is Starwars. Imperials are suppose to be oppresive and everywhere. If your Imperial and you choose to be a Smuggler that is your choice to make albeit a stupid one. So no this game is not catered to Imperials and if you enjoy being Imperial and a Smuggler then so be it.

Whining about what? I come here with an honest question and you insult me. Lovely.

I'm asking.....

Why join Rebel.....why stay neutral....why join Imperials.

Rebel...

You're KOS nearly everywhere, no toys

Neutral...

No pvp but you lose the usefulness of an entire line of smugger xp

Imperial...

More toys, risk-free smuggling

So I'm asking a serious question.... why NOT go to Imperial?

well its not all about smugglers, and people like rebels because they are "the good guys" in the movies.

To answer your question because Soe has stated several times they want Swg to be for both the casual gamer and the hardcore. To do this they limit the amount of continuity in the game. Everyone can be Imperial everyone can be Rebel. That is why they allow Imperial Smuggler's. And yes this is a stupid question.

Man, you people are jerks.

I JUST FREAKIN GOT THIS GAME AND I COME IN ASKING AN HONEST QUESTION AND YOU CALL ME STUPID.

Jerks....

There is no stupid questions. Someone asks how to buy a house, that stupid too? NO, it's a QUESTION that SOMEONE NEEDS AN ANSWER TO.

Now....I'm new. I don't know if there is bonues for being a rebel or whatnot.

The simple question is....what are the pros and cons of each? Why join rebels? It seems Imperials get everything. I'm not whining, it's a freakin' QUESTION.

oh, and as for the anyone can do anything...that's understandable, but in doing so...they penalize those who wish to roleplay. Those who roleplay and go neutral are missing out on the faction-based bonuses for smugglers. Then, the obvious choice of what is best for smuggler is Imperial...risk-free smuggling and ATST pet.

Yes, anyone should join what they wish, but for continuity's sake....shouldn't the bonus be for joining rebels or at least staying neutral....NOT joining imperials? If the bonus was for neutral/rebel....they could still join Imperial...like you said...personal preference. I just don't understand why the bonus is given against star wars continuity.

It just seems to hurt the roleplayers.

You're right, there isn't any game mechanic advantage to being a Rebel smuggler in the game, unless you are an alien and want to buy faction perk.

I thought the reason they gave Imperials better faction perks, and the ability to ignore scans, was because they wanted to encourage people to be Imperials. Sure, it's unfair from the perspective of the Rebellion side, but the argument was that for story continuity, it should be very difficult to be a Rebel.

At the moment there is no real reason to be a Rebel except for roleplaying purposes, or if you are an alien and want to buy faction perks.

(fyi, I am a human Rebel master smuggler, my business partner is a human Rebel master smuggler, and interestingly enough, Rebels are the only ones that buy faction bases on my server. So in my case being a Rebel is still profitable, even though I miss out on people wanting to buy faction for AT-ST pets).

See...good answer.

Perhaps it would be best if I stayed neutral...did imperial and rebel missions. That way people could buy faction from me both ways.

Or is there a cap on faction points if you are neutral?

Your delegation ratio, the amount of faction points,it costs you to give your client faction points, is based off your rank. It costs a private 6.5 faction points for the client to get 1 faction point. So your delegation ratio wouldn't be very efficient at a low rank. You can't delegate faction at all unless you are a declared member of a faction, so switching back and forth would be a waste of time.

Also, if you do Rebel/Imperial missions as a neutral, the most fp you can get from a mission, is 40-something (I think) and it depends on your weapon skills. You will only get fp's from the mission lair, and not from the npcs (as the npcs will be neutral). Also I think the cap on fp's for neutrals is 800 (or something like that).

Guess I'll go Rebel then...it just doesn't seem right to be an imperial smuggler.

Uh oh....stormtroopers! Oh wait...I give them orders.
