Yep you heard right and rush to your local dev tracker board for the new post of from TH. The Combat Upgarde ETA is less than a year. Yea though the combat has been promised to be fixed since launch we get to look forward to yet another year before it actually is.

Oh that is great. Watch all the people leave now. I just lost my best online friend today to WoW. Most of my ex-guild left for EQ2. I'm quickly running out of people I know who play this game. Less than a year? They expect people to wait that long? And as they are only talking about things they are working on, and the CU is what they are working on, then I guess they will talk about nothing/add nothing/fix nothing for up to a year?

Wow, I'm getting rich from friends quitting. Some day I will be the last man standing with maxint() credits.

it's funny, but most of the people in my guild that "moved on" to WoW or EQ2 and even cancelled their accounts have come back, at least for the time being. They missed the sense of community this game has, and the robust non-combat aspects, like home ownership, player cities, and professions like entertainer and crafting profs. Imagine that

That being said, more tentative infor would be appreciated and calm people down I'm sure.

Don't get too bent out of shape. TH said "Less than a year, longer than a mini-publish." He was basically saying that he can't put any ETA on it, but gave it that HUGE window of time that it will happen within. So folks, it's not going to be "a year until the combat upgrade."

Well in fairness the quote from TH was:

"shorter than a year, but longer than a mini-publish"

Unfortunately he didn't say where in the process they were, if they've experienced any problems to push it further back. So basically, we're no better off than we were before that quote.

A mini-publish is what - typically 2 months? give or take a bit (I want to say 10 weeks, but can't remember if that's accurate). How long have they been working on this CU so far??

yeah, all in all though, don't look forward for any Xmas presents this year

Cheers

Oh I'm not bent out of shape, I'm tired of the wording used by the Community Relations Manager. It's his job to talk to the players and he goes and posts a statement like that is going to be taken way out of context and everyone and there mother will quit. But to be honest a bit, I'm sure it will be closer to a year than closer to next month. You don't go and make a statement making it look bad like that when people are quitting the game. I'm tired of losing friends in this game. I love Star Wars which is why I stay.

It's gettin lonely again. And I suspect a new rash of people leaving will result from that post. The communication is sorely lacking from the people who get paid to communicate.

Finally logged my smuggler toon in on Bloodfin to check maintenance and noticed an insanely small population from what I am remeber it being in the major cities. I hope they decide to start opening up some kind of communication as to what is being thought of in order to keep people feeling that they are involved. It is actually kinda erie seeing one server I started on, that used to be always packed... so barren. The most chat I saw in Cnet was actually a doc buffbot.

Master Smuggler title up all day, not one request for slicing, not one request for spices, not one request for FP... and a depleting friends list. I know a lot of one of my former guilds went to WoW and turned over leadership, but with JtL already starting to see so many masters and nothing to do besides loot and attempt to find PvP, what is to hold all of us here. Logged my smuggler in to have some fun and remeber some of the old days... but I didn't do anything more smuggler oriented except use panic shot and a lowblow the entire day. I can see people lasting less than a year for it, but that is all they are gonna get from a lot of people.

New players? Another thing I noticed is the lack of new players sticking around. A lot of us former beta folks etc are doing our own thing, what is to keep them interested? I mean seriously, how inflated is the economy? I looked around on vendors on both of my servers thinking man these new guys won't be able to earn any kind of credits unless they get really lucky on a loot drop. Gone are the days of slicing for 100 credits per percent point, gone are the days of thinking 25k was extremely expensive for a weapon and 50k for a set of composite (and 45% comp was something to be in awe of).

We as smuggler's have been pushed back and back and yet the developer's see the whining and can somewhat see why we are discontent. Are they doing anything besides telling us to be patient? Nope, and more and more leave. All of the new accounts they see that are being created and thinking "well we lose a couple and now we just agained a couple more"... Heh, how long do these new accounts actually play before they just stop playing and let the account run for a month before they remeber to cancel?

One day we will get some fixes, one day the revamp will come. I just hope I can endure long enough through the silence of communication to still remain a part of this drowning swg community. Sorry for the rant, but just started typing and didn't stop

I'm in the same boat you are. Why I keep holding on, I have no clue. I bought some FP from Shi a couple of nights ago and that was my first player-player interaction in almost 3 weeks.

It's really kinda sad...

Well, a mini-publish is NOT 2 months, that's a full publish. The mini ones they're been doing are about 2-4 weeks apart.

So TH gave us a time window of 5-51 weeks.

V E E L A "her royal hawtness"
I am Jack's Smirking Revenge. I am Jack's Ignored Profession.
Theed was a bustling commerce city...people hawked their wares, danced, laughed, dueled, and had a rollicking good time. Cantinas packed with Entertainers of every race, shape and size...along with scoundrels, Stormtroopers, and drunks. People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. We created our own personas, our own histories, and it all blended into this wonderful, magical experience that I will always remember...

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Editor's Note: The author of the above post has quit giving SOE her money. She suggests you do the same, because this game will never be what you want it to be.
