This subject is really near and dear to my heart now as an up-and-coming smuggler. I'm at 0-4-2-4 with of course the unarmed line finished. Where do I go from here?
Do I take the second line of unarmed now and work TKA after I finish smuggler or should I push up through pistoleer? I don't want a cookie-cutter template, just something that will keep me alive once the revamp hits and PC bounty hunters decide they want to chat me up about some missing shipments.
Any suggestions for the clueless noobie would be greatly appreciated.

I'm still looking at Smuggler/Pistoleer (though that Intimidator looks mighty fine, dang Squad Leaders, good for you!) Guess I'll stick with my FWG5, or maybe actually get to use a favorite of mine, the Striker Pistol, 'cause it might actually be worth the metal it's made from after the CU.
Anyway, using the handy-dandy rating system the Dave came up with in their Combat Profession Roles articles, (using average/total rating, 'cause who knows which is right) this makes Offense 2.5/5, Defense 2/4, and Crowd Control 4.5/9. Now, that's not too bad if you add 'em, but there's some obvious shortcomings there. Namely Offense and Defense both could use a boost. Now, where can one pick up a bit of both, keeping in mind the Smuggler and Pistoleer prereqs?
I know it's hard to say right now with the Elite professions a bit mixed up at the moment, but this is the question I'll be asking in the end, so I might as well ponder it now...

That one's got Offense, but mostly from the Heavy Weapons, I suppose. Not all that much Defense. Bounty Hunter's got 4 in Offense and Defense, but I'll have to wait and see if there are any single branches (since MSmuggler/MPistoleer would only be able to get 1 branch) that would benefit both categories...

OK now i have been psotleer and smuggler for aeons. However, The concept of a fast fighting Imperial Smuggler Squad Leader, just kinda jumped out at me recently.. After all, apart form the de10..(dang got 7 of these babies ni the 500s now..and one 600) We dont erquire Master Pistoleer to do damage any more correct? So... maybe we can free ourselves a little?? Any ideas?

Idea #1: Donate the one in the 600s to the Starving Master Pistoleer Fund. IGN in sig.
Are you looking for something with some Pistoleer skills or a totally different skillset? I'm guessing that it's a bit early to make 'templates' with the current half-done state of the Elite skilltrees on TC?

dude that is so funny you brought that up heh I've been a triple master for ever and well was mulling over which one to keep smuggler/tkm or smuggler/pistoleer then earlier this morning for what ever reason I thought "oooo smuggler/squad leader?"
with squad leaders group support roll and smugglers crowd control abilities....hmmmm may be a way to go eh?
though I'm still leaning toward smuggler/pistoleer ...you know just for the whole scoundrel aspect

The things that will decide it for me:
- How do armour certs work?
- Where do the armor certs fit in the trees?
- How does this Health boost work - is Health relative to combat prof boxes or professions mastered?
- Where do the specials lie and how effective they are?
Ideally, I would love to be pick up enough BH to boost my defence and get Jedi missions and enough SL to make a difference on the field.
But we'll have to see.

I'm thinking Master Smuggler, Master Combat Medic(I want that pistol!), Novice BH, Novice Commando, and however high I can go in Pistoleer.

i know its still really early to call, but what do you guys think of the prospect of master smuggler/master bounty hunter? I just really love both professions and would like to do them both if this would be a worth while templete. It would leave 23 skill points left over if I added correctly. Obviously I'm not looking for the most powerful template out there, just want to combine 2 things that I really enjoy.
