Thread: Wes, what are they doing to Concussion Shot?

I wouldn't say they're ruining it. In fact they're fixing it so that it'll work as they had originally intended it to actually work. Originally it was supposed to be a full mez, making it so that it'd take the target totally out of the fight until they were hit or the time passed. Right now it works as a full root for the full time limit, but ranged attackers, especially riflers, are pretty much uneffected by it since it'll jus' root them in place. So they're not ruining it, they're making it how it's supposed to be.
Personally I have mixed feelings about this. I mainly do PvE, so keeping things in place with a cycle of roots makes me near invincible unless the enemy has a ranged attack, in which case I use my rifle. In PvP though, it only works to it's total effect against melee classes. I duel a Fencer/Doctor all the time to test out different things...it's impossible to win against him even though he can't move with my root. If I had a mez on the other hand, I'd have a few more options. In GCW it would make us even more useful then we are now.
Boom, Concussion shot to the Combat Medic with a rifle so the rest of the group has to come to your group. With Concussion shot the way that is now the CM could still effectively heal his party.
For PvE though, yeah, I can understand how it may be considered a nerf. Although you may not think so when you're being rushed by a fewenemies that can attack ranged.

it isnt working propperly 40 sec is way to long for a root.. and a mez is way more what we need

We still need a root. Granted, 40 seconds is a little long for a root, but we still need one.
We're supposed to be a 5 in crowd control, right?
Not really my place to comment, but I was under the impression that this is going to be fixed to break on damage.
Also, forget the crowd control/tanker/nuker/healer model. It was used as a guide when developing the CU and now that we find ourselves with the results we all have to figure out how best to balance our respected professions within the current model.
So don't get hung up on ideas like crowd control... focus on what you would want to see in your profession and balancing it with all the other professsions.

But what would Pistoleers get as their "defining" move then?
/sigh, they really messed up the planned profession roles... I remember disagreeing with a lot of the chart profession positions, and they didn't even get the chart numbers right. Bah.

This is a very contradictory statement for me. Focusing on what I want to see in my profession (And it's MINE!) is crowd control.
Smugglers should be able to root, mez, knockdown, and lay states on their targets better than anyone in the game. We may not be great damage dealers, but when we want you to hit the dirt, that's where you're going, while we laugh all the way to the starport for a quick getaway.

I don't know... and frankly, I really don't care. Let them figure it out. I worry about this profession. I may have Master Pistoleer skills, but I'm not a Pistoleer, I'm a Smuggler.
So I should re-think my Master Rifles, Master Smuggler combo?
I thought it would be sweet to get that root at 80m, then pound with sniper shot....

My point being that there is no "supposed to be" but if you want to push for crowd control then thats cool.

Okay, I'm confused. The Devs have told us that we are supposed to be a 5 in crowd control, meaning the best there is at it. But now there is no "supposed to be"?
