As i posted in the focus thread on this... um... huh?
You want to cut down on back room transactions on ebay or ige or wherever else, but then you don't put in on existing servers? So you're 40% of CS calls are still going to be for ebayed jedi on bria or starsider or wherever and you've solved nothing.
I'm not the person who has ebayed anything -- either buy or sell side - I don't even have multiple accounts or lot trade. (although I do play TC often where everyone has 3 chars.. bu we're still all on the same level playing field) But if you're looking to solve some kind of problem and this is your route you gotta do it on all servers. Making a new server and where no one has anything and then putting this up doesn't do anything but add work.

No comment. Hopefully it will be done on new servers as Wes said so the 'ME WANA B UB0R' people go far, far away, never to be seen again on normal servers. Could be quite enjoyable then.
Actually I fear it would not have that effect. People who use real money to purchase virtual items do so to have an edge over everyone else. Since everyone will have the same option of buying their way to uberness... the won't be so uber on an exchange server... thus Ragnaat is more than likely right. We will not see an end to the current Live server ebayers.
One other reason this may not work.... They can't seem to control campers as it is, and this only sanctions them in a way. Does this mean they're gonna announce a camper friendly exchange server next?

Not my cup of tea at all, but thought I'd give a heads up about the new Station Exchange that allows people to sell/buy ingame stuff via SOE (just set up for EQ2 for now).
My biggest concern with SOEbay is this: I just looted the coolest, 1337est, uberest weapon ever. Then I put a damage slice on it and it RULES, dude! Why bother putting this on the trade forum? I don't need any more in-game credits... I'm putting it right up for sale for REAL MONEY! Better yet, it is sanctioned and encouraged by SOE!! If I work this right, I can sell enough in-game loot to pay for my account.
How is this a good thing? Personally, it is better for the honest player if people get ripped off buying crap on auctions.
