It won't likely effect our game experience unless we want it to,as this will only be available on specialnewly created servers (for EQ2 at least). I'll admit my initial reaction was "Ahhhh! Noooooooo!", but it's not quite all that bad .

If you consider professional players camping POI's fpr premiem loot, not that bad.

Fishbrains! You are back!

Welcome back!

As for Station Exchange... bah. I understand why they are doing this, and they may be right that it will solve some issues in non Exchange servers , but it is still sanctioning behavior that every otherMMORPG out there forbid in their EULA.

Very much a "if you can't beat them, join them" attitude.

The real reason SOE is so concerned about this

The “seller” will be able to list the item or character on the Station Exchange website, and will be charged a nominal listing fee.

Not my cup of tea at all, but thought I'd give a heads up about the new Station Exchange that allows people to sell/buy ingame stuff via SOE (just set up for EQ2 for now).

Clickityto go give your views and opinions about this and how you think it should be implemented (if at all) for SWG

I would imagine that the inflation rate would drop, and prices would be dirt cheap compared to now. Once more people realize they can do this legitimitely there will be a flood of people doing it.

I agree with Ragnaat though on the fact that this won't alleviate any call volume on live servers if the exchange is only on new servers.

I will be different however and say I think this is a good idea. I think it'd be great to be able to pay for my account by selling an item i don't need, or selling off an extra 5 million credits I don't need. But, that's because I'm poor and would like to play for free!

Also, it's really not illegal to sell the stuff anyway, so now it just validates the loopholes people have abused all along. I'd liek to see how it plays out in EQ2 for at least 6 months before they try to implement it here though.

BAD idea, if it goes through i think i'll just start listing every crap CDEF and broken viewscreen I loot, instead of just destroying it.

Eh...paying for credits and characters is already going on, so as a company it's certainly the best thing to do.

On another note, I dont see how a player with xxx amounts of money to purchase things as being unfair; if that were the case then players with an abundance of time should also be classified as unfair as well.

Paying for items in game I wouldn't mind.. It's the things that this leads to. Mainly loot camping and credit farming. Nine times out of ten when some friends of mine and I go to one of the content dungeons or POI's, there's already someone camping there and the lair is cleared out. This and kill-stealing of loot dropping MOB's will increase if the station exchange goes live.

In fact if SOE was just to SELL items to players for a set price it would actually stop some of this farming. Sure the items wouldn't mean as much to those that bought them, but those of us that want to enjoy the content for what it is would bemore likelyto.

Of course SOE wouldn't be able to sell credits outright without mega-inflation setting in, but the sales of rare decorations and items might help to stop the farming.

SOE already does this in a way with the BARC speeder, Veractyl, flash speederand SE goggles being only obtainable by buyingcertain game versions.

Are there better ideas out there? Yes. Is mine a good one?.....not really....but better than having a SWG swap meet.

What id rather see is instanced dungeons, a way for the first person or group that attacks a MOB to "lock" the kill unless they ask for help or forfeit the kill. All of these have been suggested at one time or another and some are already in use in other games.

maybe I read that wrong, I was thinking SOE was going to Sell the items., characters etc. I agree, if players are the source of the items the results would be very bad in my opinion

I really dont know how I feel about this. EQ2 did something very interesting recently. They made it so that any item you equip becomes "spirit bound" to your character. This means that once you wear it, you cannot trade it away. WoW has a similar feature where something becomes tuned to your character the second you pick it up. If these trends continue, there won't be any point in selling anything on these auctions except for entire accounts.

However, for SWG, it would pretty much give people license to 'camp' all the good conetent in the game. Not to mention outsourcing the repetative tasks of hunting spawnpoints to offshore sweat shops. (I kid you not, there was an article in Wired about this)

Call me old fashioned....

But doesn't this break the spirit of the game? There will be no point "playing" the games to get where you want to be. No feeling of accomplishing anything.

I hope ol' George sees this idea, and pulls the rug right out of SOE if they actually try this. This will turn into "Punch-Out" after they lost the Mike Tyson lisence.
