Looking for something to do yesterday, I decided to load up my Kodan Calc and experiment with templates - I wanted to combine commando, smuggler, and 4000 CM for fun.
Unfortunately, I ran into a roadblock - my FS branches that I (more or less) leisurely grinded out of the same boredom (and admittingly, for the RP purpose of being force-sensitive-yet-not-a-Jedi, although nobody heard me say that)that spurred this action prevented me from having the full template I wanted. In turn,I attempted several hybrids, but unfortunately, none of them left me at level 80 because level 80 requires two masteries.
At that point, my only choices boil down to (a) remain somewhat gimped, (b) drop my FS skills and lose all the effort put into getting them, or (c) or get Jedito level up thesecond slot, effectively destroying the two year old Corbin the Smuggler in the process.
I'm still probably going to go for commando/smuggler, albeit without any medic at all (the cloners are going to get rich from me). I see dropping the FS skills as a viable, but last resort kind of option. I wanted to share this vet's fustration, even though it's been said a thousand times (so what's another time, more or less?). The devs made Jedi into a damnedend-game trap and it makes me want to bang whomever the heck thought that up in the head with a frying pan.

Personally, when I decided to finally master BH, the FS skills were the first ones to go.

Once you unlock your Jedi, you can NOT drop FS skills. But any time before that you can dump them.

Can we just dump all Jedi?

Yeah, and you keep the unlocked status of the branches in which you drop all boxes. In other words, after youunlocked ranged accuracy andgrinded all 4 boxes,if you wanted to get the skill boxes back, you wouldn't have to go through the unlocking quest, you would only need to grind xp.

I have no FS skills and I'm proud of it! I say to people I'm capped on pistol exp and they ask why I don't go to the village and trade it in and I hold my head up high and say 'Because I don't care!'

Actaully if you grind out a 7th branch you can drop the skills. You CAN make an effective template with 24 points in FS Smuggler/TKM works fairly well like this. The 3 points ofpistolspeed per box are a a tiny bit of help the defence is a bigger help. I had Terrian Negotiation in my template too which was also a help.

After playing a smuggler/cm/commando hybrid, I've determined what I consider to be the ULTIMATE in large-scale crowd control and healing support template.
I'm level 80, and I can use Adv. Bacta Spray and Toss. For crowd control, I canmezz, snare, blind, Low Blow, and intimidate very large crowds of people, but most of the time, lag kills that in very big battles, where your shots fire every 15 seconds =/
In smaller engagements, there is no lag, but the Jedi ratio is usually out the roof, and with Aura and Valor, they block/evade nearly 80% of your shots.
Oh yea, my template is M.Smuggler/Commando 0404/Pistoleer 0430/CM 4000. The weapon speed for pistols and HW is around 50, which really is ample because of the logarithmic scale used to determine actual weapon speed. You can get about 225 accuracy with your weapon equiped, which is a decent amount to do your job. Your defenses will be a paltry 110 to 130 for melee or ranged, but you don't really need them that much when you can heal so well.
