Once again a few BH's are yelling for a FD nerf. Man it really makes me mad when Jedi and BH's cry FD nerf, the 2 professions who abuse it the most are the ones who b*tch about it the most. Stop into this thread if you feel the need to set them straight.

I think as a responsbile smuggler, if we run across a BH or Jedi FD'ing we should encourage them to "wake up" with the help of a bomb droid.
But that's just me.

For those of you curious, this was my reply in the thread, hope it speaks for community, and echoes what my fellow smugglers think, or at least to some extent.
Okay, let's step back for a moment and look at this. Before jedi's figured out that they could use FD to screw up the BH's, there was no one in the world griping about this skill. All of a sudden, turns out that this little ppiece of dabbling is causing an extreme uproar between BH's and Jedi's, both screaming at one another over this little skill, and how it effects their little war between one another. This skill was in it's little home where it belonged, used by the smugglers to help get up a skill block, and no one else cared. Now, this quiet little skill has caused an uproar, and while it doesn't work the way it once did (which would really pi$$ you guys off) it works as it has for awhile now, long before this angry mob formed. You didn't care then, but you sure do care now.
My advice, suck it up and get on with it. You sound like a bunch of spoiled children crying because they can't have their way, and that their two uber templates aren't catered to in each in every way. This game does not, let me repeat that for those in the cheap seats DOES NOT revolve around BH's and Jedi's, as much as you may think, and as much as the dev's may seem to let on at times.
Should FD be a master smuggler skill? No, it helps a profession that is short on specials and mods as it is, and is a tool that novice smugglers can use to gain XP. We need all the help we can get, smugglers aren't exactly the hot commodity in a hunting group. Should it be changed? Yes, but not because of the incessant whining and griping of you individuals, it has its problems for the smuglgler community, not the dabblers who have brought it into this war between two spoiled kids kicking to see who's got the bigger sack in the sandbox.
Smugglers have enough problems with what is mostly auseless profession, if you really want to see a profession getting the shaft, stop by our forums sometime and see for yourself.
So for the sake of those of you who claim to be an adult, and those of you who claim to one day hope to be one, shut up and suck it up. I hope I can speak for the rest of the professions and the SWG community on the whole when I say this. We're all tired of hearing about it.
There are bigger issues in this game that need to be addressed besides your little campaign of grief and aggravation between one another.
This isn't the Hatfields and the McCoys. I could say let's all be adults about this, but I know that's too much to ask.

Should FD be a master smuggler skill? No, - I cant agree with you on this one, I feel it needs to be moved up the skill tree to stop Jedi and BH's from abusing it. So long as its an easy skill to get they will never stop untill FD is gone from the game. it helps a profession that is short on specials and mods as it is, and is a tool that novice smugglers can use to gain XP. I love the skill but feel it needs some work:
1. move it to master (I know thats a long climb but many dabbles wont do the grind for one skill and as one of our strongest skills it needs to not be easy to get)
2. Put it on a timer like FoW (TKA skill that can only be used once an hour.
3. When you FD you should be unattackable but with this ablity it should have a greater risk of failure
4. Bounty Hunters and Bounty Hunters only should be able to break this skill. (yes I know radical thought but hey someone has to be able to counter it and it might as well be the BH's)

One man's whine is another's honest gospel truth!
The BH's and Jedi's actually have very strong viewpoints on their profession - what's of utmost importance to a Jedi is of little concern to the BH and visa versa.
Of course, if they come to our forum they'd say the same about us "Damn, those smugglers just whine all day long"

I don't know why we don't just leave it where it is and......../gasp.....have the Modifiers actually work all the way up to Master with the combat level of the opponent factoring in against the modifiers for a successfull Feign Death roll.
You would appear as an Incapacitated corpse until the other person laid the Deathblow on you, which would make them view you asa corpse. You could also throw in goodies like the other person, if factioned or a Bounty Hunter, receiving a system message for credits, experience, or faction points received but not actually get anything.
I think the skill is fine where it is, but should work like our super-cool and totally-awesome contraband evasion skills where the Feign Death mods eventually stack up to something like a 75% chance of Feigning Death at Master Smuggler versus another Player of the same combat level. Maybe a 95% chance of Feigning Death against an NPC of comparable combat level (since these tend to be above any player's combat level for grouping purposes). Both chances would be less so against higher combat level foes.
This is just some spur of the moment thoughts and "calculations" but I do firmly agree that the skill is fine where it's at. Just make it useless to anyone not wanting to climb Smuggler for it. I have no problem with a Jedi or Bounty Hunter having only a 20% chance of Feigning Death.
I don't think anything shuold break Feign Death either. I'm 50/50 on a Bounty Hunter only skill that let's them get a comparable chance at "visually" scanning a person for signs of life. Chances of a successfull roll for the Bounty Hunter to find life should be the same as the Smuggler Feigning death with skill mods that climb as they reach Master Bounty Hunter. Would give them some incentive since alow-level Bounty Hunter would fair far worse than a Master Bounty Hunter.

"laugh" Great point, Daturaze. I just find sad the situation created where a significant proportion of the Jedi and BH communities really hate each other's guts, seeing each other as griever or loser etc. If we end up on the BH terms, I wish it can be done in such a way that both BHs and Smugglers enjoy the content the other profession is providing and we can keep the animosity in game.
As for my point of view about FD, well I think it do need to be modified, with a few things in mind:
1- We have to take into account the strong possibility that we will end up on the BH terms one day. So thinking about how FD work in PvP IS also a concern of ours.
2- We do not want to screw over the Smugglers who are not Master yet.
3- Do not give us an "auto win" button out of any pvp situation, specially if we end up on the BH terms.
4- Do not give our oponents an "auto break FD" skill either that would make it pointless.
5- Maybe it could still work for dabblers but have better chance of working the more highly trained in the Smuggler profession you are. Maybe that would be a PvP only thing, and let FD work almost all the time like it do now in PvE, to avoid penalising pistol grinding novice Smugglers.
6- Make it a real Feign Death, where you can't be black barred or see your armor destroyed because the player know very well you are feigning and decided to grief you.
7- Mmmm the BHs saying a real BH would never let a target without being damn sure it is dead do have a point, so how could that ability be more plausible.
,
Anyway just a few thoughts.

FD is an awsome move, but others that aren't Smugglers think it's the worst simply because for once they have a challange at killing another player. Boohoo, poor them.
Smugglers don't fight honorably, we fight however we see fit if it means we live. Others don't get that. Really, Feign Death is the only useful skill Smugglers have... other then Low Blow.
I do think FD needs to be moved to Master Smuggler, though. I'm tired of Jedi and other professions taking Smuggler and skilling up until they get FD. Only Smugglers should be able to use that move, not Jedi and whoever else is just taking up Smuggler for that one move.
There's people who use Feign Death wisely (we Smugglers), and people who abuse it (Jedi).

FD has no place in player bounties period.
It has good use in general PvP, however.
You cannot "play dead" for someone making their living ensuring that you are dead.
