This has been brought up a number of times, but I'd rather not. I'm a Smuggler, not a thief.
"i'm a smuggler not a theif"
"i'm a smuggler not a criminal.."
Oxymoron?
Not that I would advocate a 64m blind (although there is precedent—eyeshot) but I would point out that having access to a skill does not make it useful. With the lack of accuracy and speed from only having the basic profession level skills, UAblind is more or less useless…not to mention that the new weapon equip delays make switching from UA to pistols (or whatever other weapon you may want to use) a total PitA.

We also have blind with our prereqs in the form of unarmed blind... Unless of course you want us to be able to throw that bit of dust 64m

It's not that I disagree, but when I look for a new abilitiy, I don't try to base it off something I already have. We also have no mods in our skill tree for any combat move. So that's a universal problem. The only real problem is changing the weapon.

They seem to treat it like it is, for all the 'smuggler is a space based profession' talk. I have *nothing*to back that up though, not even stuff I can't reveal.
I would not want to remove the spice tree per se, but redesign it so spice is no longer the primary focus of the tree... then working on a method to make spice smuggled in, according to the skills there... thats a dream though.

Why do people keep using Han Solo as a reference to what our Profession should be?? He was not the only Smuggler in the STAR WARS Universe. Please start looking "OUTSIDE" the box here. I'm by no means flaming you, but this is getting used way to much. A little bit of an imagination helps here.

It's not just a han solo thing, it's a perception of how smugglers operate. Smugglers assist in the movement of the goods made byguys who play around with a meth lab.
If the smuggler likes to play with chemicals, all well and dandy, but it's not a skill related to being a smuggler.
Running through checkpoints, using skills and bribes to get that crate of spices to a customer... or whipping my pocket meth lab kit out of my pocket... I'll take the one that actually has me smuggle every time.
