I think this would be a great little addition to our community. If when we sliced something our names were actually tag'd to it. Much similar to how the smiths have their names as the item creator. We could include the smuggler's name in the sliced info box. This would also help us track down all the known slice exploiters.

Interesting idea, doesn't seem like it would take too much effort or have any possibility for exploitation or grief. Even if its not displayed to players the devs need to add it so THEY can tell who sliced what.

its been mentioned, and while it makes a nice point of pride, its not very RP. its like littering with a bill that has your name and home address on it.

On the other hand, I think it'd be pretty cool to somehow know how much of the weapons/armor in use throughout the galaxy was sliced by me =)

Would be an interesting Visibility thing.. you ever are responsible for higher than 15% of the total sliced Items in the galaxyI think someone should be coming after you hehehe.

I've read about those here who don't like to get too many tells, just think about what would happen if you're name was there

on a technical side, i guess that the current system is just a yes/no field (or a check box) in the database of the weapon (or armor piece), which is very low ressources taking, if we had this opportunity you would have to have a field with a nale in it, that means allowingat least 25 chars, soyou would had 0,2 kbit by item on the game, 200 kbits per 1000 schematic(i think it's about this size, i may bewrong, but that's thi idea)and that's not the way the policy seems to occur right now, they are cutting into mails, into inventory items, into vendors... to have databases work better (or at least not worse). They would certainly reply it's technically not possible for this reason.

As for the visibility that would probably be an integer count in the smuggler's character data, each time you make a slice, or sell spice, you get an increment. I may be completely false, but that is what sounds the more easy to code and to work.

However, if this opportunity was given to us, we could have some reputation, we could make the pricing we like (ok, we do, but imagine saying "OK for a slice, but you've certainly heard it's gonna cost you lots of money"). We could be searched for our talents (or forthe bounty on our head ). We should have the possibility to have something affect the quality of our work if it ever happens, because if nothing affects slicing, then the reputation is just how much guns you have slced, not how well you have sliced them

Wasn't there a bug a while ago which made the slicer the object creator? Like weapon made by so-and-so, I slice it, now it's made by me? I know I've seen "Weapon - by whoever" and in the creator field was someone else's name.

You know, this might be a good way to combat slicing exploits like PuP slicing. I know this isn't really a gameplay issue, but it's clear from previous posts exploiters is an important issue and we've all considered ways to fight back against people who don't play fair, if there was a tag, it might give us some ability to report exploiters for their name would forever be on the weapon.

The one thing I would like to see is the type and percentage of the slice on the weapon so other players don't get hosed.
