Thread: Do Smugglers have any control at all on if its a speed slice or DMG slice?

I bought 7 pistols that costed 80k a piece, and had a master smuggler slice them, and got all speed slices which is useless, and does nothing .3 speed whoppidee dooo. So I went and bought 7 more for 80k a piece, and went to a diffrent master smuggler to get the guns sliced, and he got 1 dmg sliced which was 20%. So out of 14 guns I get 1 crappy dmg slice WTH, I swear those were the worst smugglers ever, and I cant believe I paid them toruin my weapons.
I heard that smuggles have no control over what slices they get but, Im not sure cuz I was never a smuggler, but can't smugglers have bad slicing equiptment or something. Theres no way that 13/14 pistols sliced, and 1 its Dmg I don't think so. As you can tell im pretty ticked off. When I buy that many pistols and only want 1 good sliced that is pathetic.

Unfortunately, slicing is completely random. So don't blame the smugglers, it was just bad luck. Hopefully in the smuggler revamp, things will change. But that's still a ways off yet.

First of all, your guns were not ruined in any way shape or form. They are still better than when you bought them.
Secondly, Slicing is random. Smugglers cannot choose whether they get damage or speed on a weapon, and they cannot choose whether they get encumberance or effectiveness on armor. The percentage improvement is not within the Smuggler's control; it is random.
Third, equipment quality has zero effect on the slice, and this has been confirmed by the Developer GreenMarine.
Smugglers have literally zero control over the type and quality of the slice they give you. There is no such thing as a "good slicer" versus a "bad slicer" unless you believe in luck. Your 1:13 ratio of damage:speed slices is not only possible but sometimes common. I've gotten large streaks of damage slices, and large streaks of speed slices, and I've heard people tell similar stories a dozen times over. The type and quality of the slice is based on a pseudo-random number generator, which no Smuggler has any control over.
Anybody that tells you they can reliably provide one type of slice over another, or that they can promise a high quality slice, is a flat-out, dirty, ruthless, immoral, F-ing liar (or just doesn't know anything about slicing).

I think you may be about to find out the hard way that smuggleres do not like to be accused of ruining people's weapons.

There's only one way for a Smuggler to "ruin" a weapon. Take it, slice it, use it constantly for a couple of days, then return it at 0 condition. Beyond that, any slice improves the weapon. Sure, a speed slice my be useless to you, but the speed is still improved over what it was. Even a failed slice doesn't "ruin" the weapon. A failed slice just makes it unslicable...but doesn't change anything else.
Check your attitude at the login screen before you accuse people of "ruining" your gear.

speed slice is underrated. a nice 30% speed slice can help alot.

Cuz people who come in mad about their slices will pay attention to a stickied thread....
Fact is, i think the original poster just wanted to rant and vent. Nothing wrong with that, except that every smuggler has seen and heard it before. Especially the "ruined" weapon argument.

You could have bought your 80k guns off the bazaar, with just slightly higher speed.
Hey, your guns are still better then what you bought them for, go sell them for 8.5k each on your own vender and get more then what you paid(Slice including)!

I paid 80k per gun unsliced. There probly worth around 20k now, but Im a Master BH Imnot a merchant with venders.

.....First thing, you got absolutely bent over paying 80k for a 1.9spd 179dmg FWG. Thats your own fault for spending that much money on them to then come on here and whine when the slices didnt go your way. Also, don't you think smugglers have had this happen to them before? You have no idea what it feels like to have someone give you 2 krayt fwgs or 3 acklay stun batons and slice them all for speed. These weapons are actually worth a lot not the run of the mill fwgs you overpayed for. How do you think it feels to tell someone that theyre 4million cred weapons received speed slices when they already swing at the speed cap? That's what I thought. Lastly, do you think the smugglers were supposed to give you a discount or something? They used the same components, "skills" and "effort" that they would have used to get you 13/14 damage slices so why shouldn't they charge you for it?
Im usually not one to flame but people b!itching about slices is one thing that really gets me going.
