Thread: Do Smugglers have any control at all on if its a speed slice or DMG slice?

1. If you paid 80k for a FWG5 you are a bonehead, the most ive ever paid for a stock FWG5 was 10k (The FWG5 is notorious for getting speed slices)
2. Use 6 SP and pick up novice pistoleer and get a repub blaster or DX2
3. Stop ranting, no smuggler even cares about such a minor problem, i feel bad for the guy with a 3 million krayt DE10 or a million credit krayt geno or like in caylins example a 20 mill stun baton, i do not give a damn about a guy who overpaid about 60k pr gun for FWG5's
4. A smuggler can not destroy a weapon, why dont people **edit** at the WS who fails the repair on their weapon? now that ruins a good weapon, but you risk it when you have it repaired, same as when you have a weapon sliced
5. every commando i know carry 2 flames,1 dam sliced to put the dots on, and one speed sliced to use when attacking. a speed sliced weapons has its uses both for a novice at a prof, and as a smuggler/master pistoleer you cant hit the cap on last ditch so a speed sliced pistol has its uses. I use a speed sliced powerhammer as a master swordsman

Remember how a while ago doctor buffs were random? It's same thing, only worse as smuggler equipment has NO effect on damage type or percentage. And if you think you "should be guarnteed a couple decent dmg slices" go **edit** at the devs.
Attitudes like this is exactly why I refuse to slice anymore, and will not until we get some control over it in smuggler revamp.

My opinion may not count but here goes. First of all madplaya...what happened to you is partly your fault. It was stupid to go and buy that many guys at one time. Whenever I have someone interested in a damage slice... I like to meet them at the vendor where they are going to buy the guns. Buy one gun... slice one gun...buy one .. slice one. I charge a bit more for this... but it keeps the customer from buying a lot of guns when really they only need a couple.
As far as the smugglers being crappy... I think you need to study up on the profession some more before you start posting in our boards. Your probably going to have a lot smugglers ticked off at you now and unwilling to slice your weapons. I know I wouldn't if you approached me in game.

I hate this misinformed view that all master profession fire 1x per second. The funny thing is most people that complain about a speed slice actually benefit more from a speed slice than a damage slice.
Here is an example...You have a master pistoleer. His pistol speed mod is +74. He buys a pistol that is 100-200 damage, speed 2.1 His avg dps is 515.1 with Stoppingshot, his highest output special.
He now goes to a master smuggler to get it sliced.
A 35% speed slice would put the weapon at 100-200 speed 1.3, this makes his avg dps at 832.1
A 35% damage slice would make the weapon 135-270 speed 2.1, avg dps 695.4
But guess what...9 times out of 10 they complain if they a speed slice.
I even see Master Smuggler/TKA/Pistoleers complaining because they get a run of speed slice on thier personal guns.

Yes people fail to see that based on your slice you can get a speed or damage power up and have the best of both worlds or double up of the one you got.
Without the slice where are you?

You know its because of jerks like this that I don't slice for the public anymore. I didn't catch what server this meathead is on but I hope the smugglers their do slice another thing for him. If he's on starsider DONT come to me for a slice.

Your opinion DOES count here.. don't sell yourself short.
I have often suggested exactly what you have -- Find a smuggler, tell them what you want, and ask them to meet you at a vendor. Expect to pay more than normal per slice, because if the smuggler nails it on the first slice, then he has actually probably lost money counting in travel time.

First off any increase in your weapons speed or damage is an improvment 2nd they did not ruin your weapons its just not want you wanted. 3rd Smugglers have no control over the out come so if you want to cry about it dont blame them, cry to the slice gods... who based on your attidude twords the smugglers who sliced your weapons gave you the slices you deserve. Go troll elsewhere, n00b.............

Thanks bud... I used to really enjoy sliceing for people... but as of late I don't even wear the "Slicer" tag in public because of guys like this. I usually only slice for my guild mates. It's also become so expensive for WUK's and AUK's I'm thinking ofraising my price for the public from 3K perslice to 4 or 5 perslice.

I have done alot of slicing lately and I have paid attention to how the streaks run. I have gotten up to 7 speed slices in a row ,Up to 8damage slices in a row ,the % were varied . But I did get5 damage in a row and here is what they were 20% ,26%, 23%, 23%, 23%. But in the end after slicing 150 weapons it was split down the middle half damage,half speed.

Any Smuggler that says they can "reliably provide one type of slice over another, or that they can promise a high quality slice" should be willing to guarentee there work. Say $250k if they fail.
I charge $150k per "guaerenteed" slice, but there are conditions. And the conditions exist becasue slicing is NOT "completely random" and you can increase your chances of deteriming the type of slice and even reasonably predict the %. I do miss because as best I can tell there is a randomness factor to the math, but in the end I make a VERY healthy profit.
