Thread: Spice Stacking Removal

As most of you are probably aware, with Publish 17 Spices can no-longer stack; several ideas have been suggested to allow stacking to occur, but in light of a recent comment in the Correspondent forum, and the fact that certain forms of food stacking have been prohibited aswell, we're not likely to see it return.

What was said? well, it seems that an integral part of the CU's design and balance require that no stat be increased by anything more than 20% by a buff. It's also been said that players are meant to have to choose between which stats they want improved when using spice. So,I'm afraidit seems this is gone for good, at least in its current form.

This obviously raises an issue of some redundanceyof spices further down the tree, which hopefully can be looked into.

And they chose not to put this in notes because?

Seriously... now you're gonna have a bunch of even more pissed off people because they weren't up front about this.

I feel for you Wes.

The only thing more I have to say is this better be one hell of a revamp that's coming!

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Actually I changed my mind, I do have something else to say...

Tell those cowards to do their own dirty work from now on. They don't put anything in the patch notes, then you have to come here and tell us. Not them. I know you're a Corr, and that's part of your duties or something, but this only happens with Smuggler issues.

I'm sick and tired of them making you the bearer of bad news. It's BS and they need to own up to this crap already.

Mm, in this case, the chefs have to deal with it too.

I'd definitely agree with Wes on the redundancy thing. Lower-level spice won't really ever have a time where it's more useful to use it rather than something like Pixie or Booster. In light of that, I would hope the smuggler revamp changes some spices to buff things other than HAM.

They actually put "Fixed a problem where buff stacking rules were not being correctly enforced. Buffs should now stack normally." - I thought that was it?

I cant beleive they serisously did this... so is the Health crystal gonna be reduced to a max of 20% and will you now have ahard caps at 20% over your health, so if you have 3k health nothing can increase your health over 3.6k... otherwise they are flat out lieing about buffs not increasing your stats by more than 20%.

Current even with this I can get 20% spice buff, 20% food buff 10% doc buff, and 500 healthpower boost buff, and 2k health cryustal buff.... this can get my health upto 6k even without spice stacking. Damn finally had a window of a few weeks where it paid off to be a smuggler... now get back in your holes smugglers we dont want to see you again.

Yeah, you're probably right, but I still think it's a crappy way of putting it out there.

When they get so specific that they double post changes you would think they could elaborate more so Wes isn't the one that actually says, yes spices no longer stack.

So, with this 20% increase...

Does this mean that all spice stacking is removed, or just the stacking that will get an attribute over 20%. For example:

You take a Neutron Pixie and that bumps up your health level (HL), health recovery (HR), and action recovery (AR) by 20% and it drops your mind recovery (MR) by -20%.

Now, to counteract the MR drop, you pop a Booster Blue, which has the following stats: HL 20, HR -20, AR 20, MR 20.
(This would put your HL and AR at +40, but the stats are capped at +20. It also brings your MR and HR back to even.)

Finally, to get your HR back up, you use a Muon Gold with stats HL 20, HR 20, AR -20, and MR 20. This gets all your stats up to the cap of +20%.
(40% of HL would be discounted as over the cap, and the -20 AR from the muon would cancel out part of the +40 that is active thereby leaving +20%.)

As I was writing this, I realized that this technique would get rid of the negative effect of spice that is inherently a part of spice, so it probably wouldn't be accepted by the devs.

Zane, they're not hiding behind me as I wasn't asked to post this info (indeed, it was I who asked if it was ok to share it with you). I'm not exactly ecstatic about the change, but I understand why it was made and can see that it's not just limited to our profession. As for the crazy force gem, I have no idea about that and its place within the balancing act... although one would hope it would be brought into line with everything else.

So next week when the servers come back up, we should basically delete everything but Neutron Pixie and maybe some Booster Blue cause the rest is just a waste on server resources?

Smuggler has become way more gimped since the CURB. If the ReSpec is still around and I can find a profession that half-way works, I'd go for it.
