Thread: MSmuggler and TKM? viable?

Ok, i'd look in search, but it's not working, so i've got a template question that's probably been asked tons before. I want to go Master Smuggler and TKM and put the rest in Doc, this might be a total mistake since TK is melee and Smuggler is range, however, i like the Rp side of not having to wear armor, i just can't see a smuggler being weighed down in combat gear. Am i wasting alot of my potential just to get innate armor? If i'm only gimping myself for pvp, that's fine by me, don't care much about it, but if i won't really be able to do much pve outside of a big group, then i'll be willing to change my mind. Ok, any suggestions, flames, and or other comments are welcome, thanks guys.

The only downside I can see is that you're going to end up really with one single special to use in combat: combo hit. Teras Kasi are supreme tanks now, but really don't do a ton of damage, and you're not going to get anything outside of some skill bonuses out of smuggler to help improve that. Switching back and forth between ranged and melee isn't very viable anymore, at least not if you're like me and rely on the autoattack to fill in the blanks for you. Innate armor is neat and all, but it isn't any better than a suit of battle armor (except it doesn't decay). What's wrong with a smuggler wearing mabari or tantel armor, anyway? When did that become 'loaded down with combat gear'?


Now if you took it purely for the defenses and stuck to smuggler and pistoleer specials for your offense, hmmm... That might work, but I haven't tried it.

With TKM/MSmuggler best you could do is novice doctor or novice cm but you could get 2 lines of pistols

Evene going MSmuggler with another ranged profession mastered best healing would be 1 line of CM

i have always thought that smugglers should have there own special armour, like a "bad feeling" skill lol.

It would seem like a brawler skill would be viable with smuggler since you get the unarmed mods but I guess they magically forgot to put in any specials in with those mods.

I am working on this combo for Wasodo but am thinking and rethinking it over. IF I DO continue to rock MS/TKM then the BEST thing to add would be Pistoleer 4004- I pick these for the speed,the extra defense and Stopping Shot.


This is your best option in all honesty.


As far as the chap with the MS/Commando/Pistoleer combo- This is aSTRONG combo. You might wanna wait it out for them to fix Commando specials butany way you slice it you have 2 Elites and 3 lines of a third profession. That is hard to beat- specials/mods wise.

My current template is Master Smuggler, Master Rifleman, Master Marksman and 0030 carbines. Melee defence isnt too great, but its a great template in my oppinion.

Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer/ Commando 4/0/0/0 /Carbineer 0/0/3/0....Uses all you points....great accuracy...Great Defense....A ton of crowd control....A KD shot....I love it.

I'd actually recommend picking up Pistoleer 0404 instead. You get a ton of accuracy and two incredibly useful specials: Disarming Shot and Burst Shot (stun). Once Burst Shot gets fixed, it will be a VERY valuable shot (nearly stops pools from regenning).


If you have anywhere around 60+ speed while holding a weapon, you aren't going to benefit a whole lot by picking up the 4-x-x-x line of pistoleer to pick up the extra +10 General Ranged speed, yet that line does have improved Body shot, which is a fair damage shot.

well right now im Msmug/Mpistols/BH 0400


i personaly lovewhen fighting a group alternating concusion and stoping shot to root a group then area stuning them and alternating fan and sprayshot


will be even better with stun fixed will suck with concusion shot nerfed

Well, I did some soul searching I'm now heading for MSmuggler, Bh (not sure about master) and then either pistols or carbs. I kind of miss the melee side of things, but i really want to be a smuggler, so i'm willing to sacrifice. My question then becomes, should i master BH? right now i have 0030, i'm really liking improved underhand shot, but i have no desire to hunt jedi's, so should i go bh 0440? or am i just wasting alot of points there. Basically i ask because the only thing i'm sure about is smuggler, i don't want to be uber, just be able to pve effectively. Ok, thanks for the suggestions guys.
