Thread: MSmuggler and TKM? viable?
I am a MSmuggler/TKM with alittle Medic and a little Commando. I have no problems with this Template. Your not the fastest or the hardest hitter but you have alot of options. If you get bored with templates fast this one may be for you. You can shoot when you want or you can go Hand to Hand when you want. PvE you will never have a problem, solo or group. I have done a little PvPing with people testing out there Templates during the respec and I did very well, I would think in group PvP you would be loved. Its a over all fun Template to play.
There are thinks i wish i had or could do, but then show me one Template that you would not.

No, I tried it. Not fun. While I LOVED not having to wear any armor, come a combat persective having Smuggler adds nothing to your template because you cannot use any of the specials as a TKA.
I was disappointed. You would at least have to pick up some Pistols to first land the concussion shot then swithc to Unarmed. I did this often, but it was justa huge pain. Stand alonk TKA is just as effective as Smuggler/TKA.
I wish it was not the case, but it was. At least that is what I found.
Has very nice defenses (close to 300 with BE clothing). Damage as TK is about on par with pistols though you really have very few attack options. Armor break is nice and with CoB I can stand in the crowd for awhile. Problem is the heavy hitters (rifleman) keep getting the aggro and thus it's hard for a tank to do it's job. When I don't need to be a tank I can pour on the states and help with damage from the pistols.
If you plan on doing a lot of UA you NEED a very low SAC knuckler, otherwise even barefisted you run out of action quick.

Don't you have to have master marksman to even get commando? i'm confused there (or is allakhazams builder wrong? I'm definitely getting the impression that my dream won't be a reality as combat currently stands, that's fine i guess, i'll just have to decide if i miss melee more than i want to be a smuggler.

The 3 in Commando is for AOE states and defences
The 2 in Medic is for Healing beteen Lairs or Bases. But it has payed off in a few fights.
I have been meaning to drop Medic to xx1x and bump Commando to 4xxx but have just not gotten around to it.

I must say that there is a definite 'style' to being able to fight in your smugglers outfit. Plus I love the PvE versitility of MS and MTKA.
But I've been thinking about throwing a bit of commando in there. How effective is the AOE in commando with some of the low level weapons? I'd like to have the option to throw some states in there with a launcher pistol or mini-rocket launcher to really become good at crowd control.
I love the AOE states from using the Launcher Pistol. Once you learn when and when not to use AOE it is very effective. Its real nice for getting you self out of trouble using root and with the change coming that will add Daze to the root its going to be very good for getting your self or your group out of trouble. It saves a lot of action points when tring to play crowd control and sticking states. The low damage of the launcher pistol almost never draws agro to.
