I know what you mean.....NEVER will i charge less then 10K for a slice, my times too important to me to slice for peanuts. I figure if doctors can charge 10k for an enhancement to ur stats for only 3 hours i figure i can charge the same price for an enhancement on a weapon which will out last several sets of buffs....hell i should be charging 50k to slice, come to think of it. Then again if i did that people would cry and moan that smugglers charge too much.....why oh why must this game be so miserable.

I charge $450/% ... but every time I see the average doc buff prices go up $1000 ... I have been raising $50/%

(next raise will be if I see many more @ $15k or several at $16k)

I can't say I haven't shouted anything ... but I haven't spammed in a loooong time.

If there is some noob annoying me with utter stupidity... then I may shout something to take all the business like Master Smuggler Slicingfor $500 or I have been tempted to "$10,000 for anyone that refuses to go to[Insert Name]Smuggler".

This really bothers you, huh?

If a smuggler wants to slice for 100 credits per slice, why does it affect you? That's what he wants to charge.

Hey, he didn't say that he was going to run him out of town, just that it bothered him. It bothers me too. Because it sets expectations. He can't TRULY enoforce a price cap or an undercutting, but it's just gonna make one more a-hole grumble at my pricing. He'll still get the slice, but he'll get all pissy with me about it.

But what REALLY bothers me, is his lowered price for under 30%. The implications he's spreading is that:

A) there are bad slices, which is not really true.

B) that we should be accountable for something entirely outside of our control. Which is lame and bogus.

That's fine. If that works for you that's cool. It's still the sort of standard. Me? I can charge 250 credits. People pay it. I've been turned down twice, and the second time the guy came back. I might have to up to 300.

I can't believe I used to charge 100c per % I was so cutting myself short. I didn't believe that I could possibly do "8k per slice" but I tried it anyway and people didn't care at all. I'm still casually raising my price to see how far I can hike it.

I still haven't set a good price for slicing containers though. Any ideas?

Bingo JTG.. You said it right there. "it sets expectations". "...but it's just gonna make one more a-hole grumble at my pricing".

People want others to raise the price on slicing so they can make more money themselves from it. So they won't have customers saying: "What? You charge 10k a slice? But Smuggler A charges 5k a slice".

And you know what? That's the beauty of competition. Smuggler A might not be interested in making as much money as you are. And so he has a 'better' price than you to people who would compare between you and him, because you both slice at the exact same ability.

Other smugglers might not charge as much because they want to be lower than other smugglers. And in turn, they will most likely get more customers, and in the end make the same amount or more than the smuggler who is charging more money.

Stop trying to price fix. It will never work. Just accept that other smugglers are going to price their slices lower than you. I have. There are smugglers on Kettemoor that charge 2000 cr. a slice or 3000 cr. a slice. And when I get a customer that says: "Well, Smuggler A only charges 2000 cr. a slice", I tell them "Well, go find Smuggler A then." And if they come back to me later, then my price doubles.

You play how you want, and let others play how they want. If everyone is having fun, then there's no problem.
