Ive recently become a master smuggler and have come across a few customers that would refuse payment after slice. In one case a customer/theif insisted that he already paid me. I know I should have kept his weapon until i received payment, but he kept insisting that he /tip the amount i requested. I checked and doubled checked but he did not. I gave him his weapon back and told him not to do it again. Later that day he tried to pull the same stunt, I told him to pay in advance and he wouldnt, I told him to go bleep himself and engaged in some heated conversation.

Anyway the point is that I think there should be some sort of a Blacklist but im not sure if that would constitute grieving. The way I see it is it would prevent grieving against us smugglers. Let me know what you think

A black list isn't grieving in the slightest. You're not griefing the player or ruining their experience if you choose not to slice for him. He can still get sliced weapons from any one of the many vendors in the galaxy.

When I get a bad customer, I put them on my friends list, and I give them a tag of "Bad Customer".

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. Exactly, just point blank refuse him and walk away, its not like he'll report you for it.

I just addignore them, they soon go away.

I agree but I think what Butz is talking about is a server wide ban on bad customers. personaly i wouldnt want to see it implemented as new code...not even sure they could.....I just dont give up sliced goods till i verify ive been payed.if they cant wait a few seconds for me to seach chatlogs and/or my email they should just use the trade window thats what its for.

I kind of think the blacklist thing is a cool idea, it gives smugglers sort of an organized crime, profession wide power. The problem is its almost impossible to keep in place.

personally i just keep the item(s) untill i recive payment, i dont give a damn if its a DL44 or a Krayt DE10, you have the right to keep it untill your paid, why not do it. I have a line in my macro with my prices that /tips are not accepted only payment in the trade window and bank tips. If he tips then its his fault, and if i cant see the tip im my combat spam after 3 minutes well them i asume he didnt tip

I love the idea of a blacklist, although this forum isn't limited to one server, so it might get a little bit confusing.

My friend was a former Master Doc (back when buffs weren't that common) and they had a RP-Council of Docs and of course a Blacklist of bad customers.

I think as soon as the profession channels work we can quickly spread the word so that bad customers will be known by most Master Smugglers on the server.

i had a thought... i'm fighting my way to Smuggler, and after reading this, i'm thinking of looking at making a "wiretap" macro. that way, once they agree to the slice, i start /log-ing the convo. they wanna grief, call me a thief? i don't think so, and throw the log back into their face...

I came up with a great solution for this problem, I don't slice for anyone but my second account MWS, I never try and rip myself off.

if in a guild have them /denyservice (Or whatever the command is) then /ignore.

That tends to work for me, when I put up with a jackass.

I'd like to blacklist crappy forum auctioneers/buyers too. It really pisses me off that somebody is allowed to jerk you around for 3 days in an auction and you can't say anything bad about them. In real life, I tell everyone who listens to me about a bad experience at a business or restaurant so they wont patronize them either. Unfortunately, the forum Nazi's don't like it. I would suspect the same would be true when it comes to slicing. I bet some Dev would make Caly delete such a post.

I am an SOE customer, now only if they'd treat me as one...hell, I'd be happy if they treated me like a McDonald's customer.

I would suggest you extend this to your Smuggler pals.

When you hear of a bad customer that stiffed one of our breathren, slice their weapon tell them the stats, and walk away.

Then I recommend any of the following:.

Keep it and mount it on a wall near the PLK renamed "Happy Customers"

Place the item up for auction, so they can go visit it for the next 7 days.

And my personal favorite...

Stand in Coronet and shout "Selling [Character Name's] [Weapon/Armor] for 100 credits, already sliced.

If youever want to see someone lose their mind, sell there 300k Stun Baton for 100 credits. I do not recommend adding them to your ignore list, it is far to amusing to read all the creative names you get called.

The difference between a Smuggler and a criminal is, Smugglers are well paid.

If I ever have any trouble from a player or customer, they're added to my blacklist and I'll never work with them again.

In your case however, you were fully within your rights to keep the item. I've done so in the past, and although I usually sell the item on my vendor (notifying the original owner) at a substantial markup, I'm tempted to start a "blacklist wall" in my shop of non-paying customer's equipment.
