The smuggler revamp is supposed to after publish 11, right? How depressing.

Galactic Civil War - Publish 11

The Galactic Civil war is a central theme in the Star Wars timeline and the goal of this effort is to create more atmosphere and interactivity in the Star Wars Galaxies MMO while retaining its basic design philosophies such as PvP by choice, "star warsy" ambience and other facets of player involvement.

Changes to the existing Galactic Civil War will be considered for the month of January and implemented in March. In Concept discussions may include new features and items as well as design changes to the existing system. Points of focus will be:

  • Player Roles in the Galactic Civil War
  • Faction Points, Faction Perks and/or Faction Equipment
  • Player versus Player Combat
  • Player Professions involvement in the GCW
  • Combat Roles in the GCW

A month or so ago, we were told that our revamp was postponed indefinatly until after the expansion is released.

Blowing the Publish 11 goal away. The way it was brought to our attention (A mistake in how they posted a state of the game letter) led to a very large outcry and most likely to the presence of GreenMarine now.

Weren't we supposed to be in publish 11 until they postponed? Now that I see that it isn't until March, I think we won't get a fix until next June or so. That just depresses me.

JTL is due sometime in October.

/sarcasm on; Way to go SOE, you guys are the best.

/sarcasm off; It is F'n ridiculous that they are making all these plans without fixing a broken game. A working GCW 1 year and 7 months after the game was released? Yeah, good planning. I'd rather not fly a ship and settle for having a balanced game and all the proffessions working.

I am an SOE customer, now only if they'd treat me as one...hell, I'd be happy if they treated me like a McDonald's customer.

I'm still not sold on the October release. It's not close enough to Christmas.

Given the october release, my money is on a february 2005 smuggler revamp.

    Not quite..

According to TH: "I’ll be working with the community to develop plans for the Combat Balance and post them on the site; we’ll do a few features and I will continue to post updates. Later we will do the same for the GCW, the Squad Leader Revamp and all of the community issues on the table."

So Smuggler is after Squad Leader apparently, which is after the GCW, which is after Combat, which is after space.

Now lets say the SL thing is crap so we're after GCW, Combat and Space. Ok, not bad since this is pretty much where we thought we were (GCW/Combat in Pub 11, then space, then us). Now whats significant is that GCW isn't set to be completed until "this time next year" which puts our revamp at 1 year+.

If you wonder why I say february, well... this is how I think it will pan out...

JTL will be released in October... so we have November+ to work with.

After that, there will probably be a ton of bug fixes that go in, to make sure everything is working just dandy. Might have a chance at the combat balance.

December probably being the combat balance or a continuation of it. It should be a massive game changer, so it may take two patches.

January will probably be the GCW revamp.

February being the next open spot.

This is all, however... my opinion. I don't have facts to back this up.

I think you are reading into the SL thing too seriously. The combat balance will hopefully help squad leaders enough to tide them over till they get a revamp.

Even if you ignore the Squad Leader revamp, if the GCW is slated to take place from March through July 2005, where does that place us?

I see it happening rather piece by piece. Not January through March wholly dedicated to the GCW. The GCW would spread out over time.

I don't think they would just toss the smuggler revamp at the end of it all.
