Thread: Is this the beginning?

Last night, for the first time ever, I saw someone in Coronet spamming looking for a Master Slicer.

OK, so ignore the fact that they might not know the diff between Slicer and Master Smuggler, but I just wondered if this might be an indication of a bit of a slicing famine hitting the game...

Unsurprising seeing some of the threads posted here (I'm Slicer atm on my way to Master Smuggler and I've just hoiked my prices to 5k) as well as the fact that most people on my server seem to be obsessed with collecting badges so they can wave a sparkly stick about...

How long until the galaxy implodes 'cos there's no-one out there harvesting resources, or healing, or making buffs, or dancing.

And there I'll be, polishing my Master Smuggler title and chuckling to myself

I am FULLY expecting the only people that are smugglers are those who truly want to be.

I think the current changes to the game will get rid of all the smuggler posers.

And then we're gonna be hard to locate.

It's already starting to happen on Kettemoor. I get people all the time saying to me: "Man, you smugglers are hard to find nowadays!"

I just nod and smile as I take their credits.

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

I'm more than happy to see the posers leave, they are notorious for underpricing the rest of us.

It's fun, on Gorath M.Smugglers get rare, too.
Most people whine and complain about the 10k for a slice but still pay. What do we learn of that? Go to 20k per slice

It's not IF I can do it, it's HOW MUCH you're willing to pay.

Yes, only those of us that truly want to be Smugglers will be left, I refuse to drop to be a Jedi, I am a SMUGGLER and wish I could smuggle something, but I just love the profession. I don't slice for the public anyway, only for my alt MWS.

Hello All,

I am currently working up to be a Master Smuggler along with my current TKM profession. I have seen some of this on Corbantis. I am still low in the profession, only 0/2/0/0 but climbing on up there. I guess I am fairly lucky in the regards that I only had about a day or two to use the auto-pull ability for sclicing so I was not as hard hit but it is more of a pain none the less.

I am excited about being a Smugger. There are not many around that I see anyways, so to me it's like being in an elite club of sorts.. rare sights and profit.

Jus so that I can start working on pricing and being inline with everyone, what do people normally charge for sclices. I have heard some say an amount per percentage point, some are a flat fee, etc. Just trying to get a good idea of the best used method so once I start, I'll be ready.

I also like using my Lekku language... LOL it can be fun around the coronet startport with fellow Twi'Leks and Smugglers alike. Make fun of those less fortunate to have a private language. Could this possibly be used for smuggling, I mean a language that few can hear. Of course this would be more of a roleplaying aspect possibly.

I plan to go Smuggler and also have formulated a plan to take the pain out of finding a Master Smuggler. I had planned to setup Vendors in strategic locations like outside Coronet, Mining Outpost and possibly a few player cities. The idea is that people will offer what they want sliced in bags on the vendor. Then once or twice a week, I visit the vendors and go on a slicing spree. Then, place the bag with all of the sliced items for whatever price I may charge and send out an e-mail to the person with the slicing results, price and location of where to pick up their items. Though, it may be a bit slower...At least you know that your stuff will get sliced in at most, seven days. I've heard of people looking for Smugglers for weeks. What do you, the fine people of these forums think of this idea? Has it been done before? Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The concern that I may have would not be offering the stuff to you vendor so much as getting it back. If you were to charge say 25k for the job and put the pack on the vendor for the person to pick up, but let's say it is a suit of the best stun armor out there that they paid 400k for. What would stop me from buying that off of your vendor for 25k and the original player is now out that 400k suit of armor? This would be my biggest concern doing it this way although I like the logic behind it of having a drop off so to speak for the jobs.

Can anyone think of a way around someone else buying the finished job or getting it back to the correct customer that is more efficient or safer?

there is no safer way other then e-mail / tell the person when your done and arrange a pick-up time and place. i like the "drop box" idea where by people can drop there stuff off at the closest location. could get alota business you might otherwise miss out on.

the downside to the whole deal is you will need to make the run to all your vendors every day and crack out the slices as fast as possible becouse people don't like waiting weeks for there gear back.
