We can gripe about things if we want to. Most of us here don't like being misled and lied to - that's wherea lot of the animosity comes from - the broken state of the profession is secondary. My gripe is with the developers first, about the empty promises and missed deadlines.

Read Electricnomads post and get a handle on how much we've been strung along, please.

Love to see people who have no idea what is going on coming in here and yelling at us. How funny. Hey Lindz maybe you should put the holo's down and read the "History of Smugglers as written by the dev;s"posted at thew top on this message board before you assume you know what your talking about.

I understand where the original poster is coming from- look at Ranger and Squad Leader, ewww. However, you must note that smugglers don't actually smuggle anything. They should rename the profession to Master Criminal if this goes on. Spices are marginally useful and are for emergencies only. The Dirty Fighting tree was nerfed with feign death causing creatures to attack you when you stand up, even when they have despawned. Panic shot was nerfed so that the delay breaks on contact. Slicing is so random at master from 15%-35% and it is random whether the slice will be damage or speed making it risky business. Selling faction is out of style and was mainly used to help people buy AT-ST's back when they were good.

folks... calm down... please

don't let our situation spoil the general good nature of this forum. that would be absolute worse thing that could happen. Our beef isn't with players, its with the staff, and let us all keep that straight in our heads.

To the original poster, there are many threads discussing the matter already. A few are stickied. Theres one in particular addressed to non smugglers, but you should read it too.

But in general we all can agree that there are useful things in the profession. DF is a wonderful compliment to pistoleer making it almost not broken itself. Underworld is a great compliment to a ranking official in the GCW. Everyone in the game uses a slicer. Even Spices had seen glory at one point in time. This is something we all agree on.

The "beef", as you put it, is while playable in the game as a profession we really aren't much of of a profession at all but a pile of random skills, and we certainly arn't "smugglers". Without rehashing everything said over the last year this problem is evidenced in two ways - the sum of our parts are nowhere near as useful as the individual parts (I myself am 0440 and only that much cause i make wads of cash selling tools) - and nothing we do, except *maybe* terminal hacking but we have R2s for that work - at all has anything to do with smuggling, but instead being some type of criminal. Corrupt Imperial Officials, corner drug dealers, and gun show junkies selling semi-autos turned fully-auto do not smugglers make.

Guys I just can't understand whats going on in here recently, I was master smuggler for 4 months maybe longer, and made more money and more abilitys than with any other profession in the game, you have 2 of the best pistol moves in the game, if not THE best. You have the potential to make more cash than ANY other profession, when I was Master Smuggler I was making 10-20 million credits a night selling FP. You have the ability to open your own locked containers without risk, you get cheap faction pets and items. You can slice weapons and armour which is fun when you let it be. You can make buff spices which are still totally essential to the game, you have an active part in the galacticcival war and easy enterance to any big guild due to your roll....... you have more diversity in your class than any other. I LOVE smuggler and always will, and always did while I was smuggler. It has little problems but yet I see people whining like its the most broken class in the game, wake up call its sooooooo far from it. Try looking in the other profession forums and see what really broken professions really look like. My point is this you guys have a great class which given the chance you can enjoy. And the argument about needing other combat professions just to support the speed needed for your pistol moves..... YES you do, Smuggler is a support combat profession and you should seek out another class to support your speed. YOU GOT THE LOVE, your getting more love with the SEP, so come on give it up and enjoy the damn game for once.

Yes,but which of the above actually warrants us being called smuggler? Slice Monkey maybe? Or Dealer?

Want we want is the ability to actually smuggle

I pointed out the good points in your profession, did you nod?, no you just read the worst you could out of what I said, you guys got patched up a lot, there was lots of bugs in smuggler in release and most have been fixed (some to the dismay of the exploiters), I was smuggler a long time so don't label me (to the guy that did apparently longer than you have played no?) as not knowing what I'm talking about, before I really started playing the game as a smuggler I moaned about the lack of content with smuggler, but when I actually started trading faction points, items, going on raids and slicing terminals, and being the personal slicer for all items we looted along the way I started to enjoy it, the smuggler aspect is there but without ships its quite simply misplaced. With space expansion smugglers are going to get more attention than most if not all, I personally think there is little wrong with smuggler and to the most part the devs got it right. The space expansion is the natural evolution of the trade and I'm sure it'll be cool. The title got your attention but see the facts here I pointed out a lot of damn good things with your profession and like it or not all of them are correct and pretty bug-free. I actually raised this post due to one thing, I came to read up on my favorite profession again and didn't see the good content in this forum I remember well, I saw a lot of people complaining about what I consider to be a great profession. There is a lot to be said to playing the game and getting involved in it, I see immediately from the responses which of you do that and your replys where great and I do see the failed commitments from the devs can be frustraiting, in fact I was amazed when I read the Green man still hadn't delivered anything more from his statement last year - I was actually smuggler at the time and talked with him several times on content I thought could be improved and ways to reproduce multi-slicing which was thriving then although not as publically known (aside from the imp crackdown changes, but maybe they consider them the love he promised).

Anyway my rant is over, its not a dig, i'm just trying to open the peoples eyes who become smuggler and read the negative without even trying the positive. And I think they also made themselves apparent on this post also.

By the way, yes I was a holo-grinder, THAT is something that needed fixing, Smuggler was my first profession on my main and also a profession I kept on an alt until I cancelled it recently and I kept it the whole grind, I ended up doing 45 professions (including having to re-master) before I opened my slot because I refused to give it up until the last stretch.

Yeah, projects get pushed back and re-prioritized. It happens. There is a difference between telling a lie and missing an target. When you have a large scale development project then you have to make many critical decisions and you have to re-prioritize things. People will yell and scream for an ETA from the devs. Over and over the devs have indicated that it is against their policy to give an ETA. People keep demanding one anyway so they share some ideas and hint at a target then people call them liars and such when they cant meet it. The only mistakes the devs did here was to even hint that you were being thought of in the first place because when things change then you will twist everything and make it into something it is not.

I think it is this attitude right here that is so frustrating, perhaps because I am a developer myself. You see I will have people give me specifications to develop something, they want an estimate, I give them one. They then change all of the specifications and move the priorites around then 4 months later say ‘Well you said back then that you would give this to me by this date when "this" is no longer even what "this" was back then.

Well the fact is that the nature of development is a very difficult task. I think many people very simple jobs where they complete the same repetative tasks over and over each of which take about 15-30 minutes to complete. These people have a very difficult time understanding the nature of managing and developing a huge project which is why they are playing the game and not on the development staff.

But the origial poster made a point which is what I have been saying. The smuggler profession is a great profession compared to many others. It is definitely not one of the worst. We say we want to really smuggle, which is a valid point but the devs have said that it would be best for that to happen in space.

Calling the developers liars and slandering them is what is so venomous. The way some people make it sound, smuggler is one of the most screwed up professions in the game. When I decided that this was what I wanted to do, I came to the boards. I was really depressed because many people made it sound as if this was the crappiest profession in the game. I knew this was what I wanted to role-play so I went ahead and mastered smuggler anyway to find out that it is one of the best profs in the game.

You would NEVER know there was anything good about being a smuggler by most of these angry posts I think one of the issues here is the only thing many people have to argue about is the fact that the devs are evil, they "lied" (missed some targets due to priority shift)

I do feel a concern for some of the people here. If they react to everthing in life when things do not go exactly their way in a similar manner… they are gonna have terribly unhappy lives.. Maybe that is why they are so angry.

The professions of this game are like 32 spice fiends in the same room with a few fences. Everyone is screaming for their their fix. If you try to give everyone a little bump at the same time, nobody will be satisfied and the screaming will never end. If you single out each one really hook them up , you will slowly end the screaming. I know my turn is coming, but it still does not ease the pain of realizing I am nobody's favorite ho. It is not your fault. If you point out anything positive about the profession you will be beat down like a dog. It makes it so you cannot even discuss the good things about smuggler. If you want to have positive smuggler discussions we need to make our own website. There a few bullies who ruin itfor everyone.

Lindz, come on, you come in here and teat smugglers who have been smugglers for a year like N00bs that dont see the good in the profession and your not even nice about it. You dont think people who playedthis professionfor more then a month or 2 dont know what is good about smuggler? Why do you think they have been smugglers for so long? Then with out any knowlege of what wehave been told for almost a year you havethe gall to ask whatis theproblem and we need to be happy for what we have?Dont try and back step and say you were pointing out the good we know full well why we are smugglers and dont need a flamer like you to point it out. Now go find another holo to open.
