HELP!

I've been 'round these parts for a while and I've hit a major problem .... here it is:

What do I do now?

  • I'm glowy, but in NO hurry to get to Padawan. I got the Aurillian Flag so far.

  • I'vedone all quests except DWB (and I don't really care to)

  • I've dabbled a bit in other professions to know what I like (Triple Master is my favorite and that's what I'll remain)

  • I'm a Rebel Colonel

  • I have a butt-load of money (is 20 million a butt-load?) so I can just about buy anything I want. Running Janta / Mokk missions I can make 400k an hour so money is never an issue.

  • I'm in JTL Beta1.

/sigh I don't wanna get bored with SWG but I've been playing it since SWG Beta1 so I've been playing for a LOOOONG time. Maybe I just need a break? I bought Star Wars Battlefront today... gonna play that as well as JTL. I still love BF1942 and Desert Combat. /sigh My buddy is on day 2 of the free EVE trial. He's also in the same boat as me and he's thinking that he might switch to EVE as it's very cool and alot more to do than SWG.

/sigh

Help ... any good news for me? I don't wanna leave. Thanks in advance!

Dunno...

I recently gave up Master Medic to work on BH 3040...I got bored stiff with the FS skill grind and thought I'd participate on the other side of the fence.

I preordered JTL and I'm STILL waiting for the Smuggler Revamp.

I have to say that if after JTL they don't start TALKING to us with DEFINITE plans for our revamp in a TIMELY manner then I'm out of SWG for good...after over a year.

A week or two away from the game will do wonders for your outlook, atleast it did for me.

I would recomend what someone else already said. Take a few weeks away from the game. Set everything up so that you can be away for a month and just do other stuff. Go watch movies, hang with friends, go explore the outdoors, just do whatever you do for fun. Then in a few weeks log back in and see how you feel. You may find that its actually a fun game and worth sticking around with. If youre a heavy video game player try the other video games out and see how things go.

There was a time I got somewhat bored playing my main waiting for something new to come up, as I'd done just about everything I could (not counting the uber-tough things like the Corvette and DWB).

What I did was start a new character on a new server, picking a new profession and race I didn't try before. Opened up a whole new experience for me. And with this being basically just a playing-around character, no worries while playing. Alas, soon I felt the pull back to my Smuggler and I began to play him once again.

With the new FS quests came a new experience. Since the main now becomes the Jedi (which I do not want) and the realization of how long it would take me to get the second character slot with my main before I could even begin with the second character, I began a new character to become a Jedi.

I now have my two favorite old-time PNP characters in-game. My Smuggler and my (eventually) Jedi. I can even RP my second character as one who is, and always has been, seeking to become a Jedi.

This second character has given me a new drive to play, and has actually been very fun. Building a new character for serious play takes quite a bit less effort and is much more fun once you've done it once. (And having a Smuggler buddy on the new server to help you get started is great, thanks Yimayz!)

Soon, JTL will bring us new things to do and more opportunities for fun and RP. After that, who knows.

Wow, this rambled on more than I intended. Anyway, bottom line is take a break from the game, or just from your main as you try something new, these can both help bring you back to the game with a new energy.

I'm in the same boat as you, in fact anextremely similar resume. I'm breaking a bit from SWG, well maybe in long enough during phase 2 and 3 to open my slots but otherwise I'm playing Battlefront and *cough*beta*cough*.

Was kinda interested in Eve also, thats too wierd.

Anyway, I don't have that much time as I'm in grad school, working full time and have 3 kids.

I need a vacation!

I am in the same boat (at least 5-6x as much money) ... my view right now is wait for JtL ... to finish making the smuggler. (need pilot to be a true smuggler anyway).

It's amazing how similar your character sounds to mine. I tried making a BH on another server; it was fun for a bit, but it got old after awhile. I'm here to play, not grind, and too much of what's available is simply repetitive grinding.

After JTL beta is done, I'll likely hang up my pistols and vibro knucklers and leave the game. There'll beabout a month before EQ2 comes out, and I'm sure I can busy myself until then.

yeah...i was in a bind for awhile. i was gone for a couple months. got into battlefield '42 and some others..then i came back and started back to work. i got boared again..so i made another guy on another server to join my Battlefield clan and was doing a different proffesion instead of smuggler...i started to do Fencer..i had soooo much fun...i started switching off between servers then it seemed like the bf clan wasnt playing much anymore...i went back to mastering smuggler and finally did it. now its like playing for the first time again. that feeling.

I have to go with the make a new character scenario. I'm a Master Smuggler / Marksman / Commando with a little Pistoleer. I can go out and run missions for money with ease, but that's just boring after a while. FS grind.... *yawn*. And I haven't even been playing all that long.

So I made a CH / BE on another server.

I'm having FUN again.

I get a new skill, great! I don't, oh well. I die, big deal. I have little cash, so what? I get to go out and just play, literally. Not grind, not come running to a guildies aid every 1/2 hour. No hassles. No worrying if I can get into a solo group or not for the high payouts. And no need to worry about finding a buffer.

That is where the replayability of the game is... as long as you didn't grind your way through them all already. If ya did there may not be any excitement left in trying a recycled profession.

Failing that, as others have suggested take some time off. Heck, even EQ almost seemed fun again for a short while after being gone for a month... almost.

Then, my friend....it's time to play the power game....think of new and interesting ways to amass MORE wealth, prestige and influence as the most notorious criminal on your server...THEN, once you're as infamous as Jabba, throw your weight around, and your credits and sponsor player content. There's gotta be TONS of people who could use your time, money, and know-how with player run events, quests, etc. and then become the most loved out-law on your server. Then you can say you've done everything, retire to your cantina, and sell looted parts out of the back as the loveable old curmudgeon. But that's just my plan, at any rate.

1) Roleplay... money is no object...hang out in cantinas and talk to people. start rumors. start fights.

2) Help NEWBs...check bios for an absolute lack of badges...slice a few CDEF pistols, and tip them a couple of creds. Being a good samaritan gets me through the doldrums.

3)Pester docs. A lot! Keep pestering them until they buff in the clinics where they belong.--complain about 12k buffs....(actually I used to be a master doc...what a chore, what a bore)

yes...take a break....Star Wars Battlefront is out for the Xbox and other platforms....find me, and kill me with a single headshot...
