Thread: CAYLIN leavin,we have to stick together

He's done everything we could ever have asked of him. The only thing that makes it seem as if his work went without results is the fact that GreenMarine can't work on our profession until Jump to Lightspeed is finished.

I'm sure if Caylin could've physically made the changes to the game himself, he would have. He can't. It's not like he even got paid to hear us whine all day and night. His "job" consists of filtering all our complaints and suggestions and condensing them into an easy to swallow caplet for the devs. Whether they listen or not, he's done his job. he can't go to greenmarines house, tackle him, pull his arm behind his back and say, " HEY! I'm not letting go until we get the revamp!" It'd be cool if he could, but he can't.

Last time I looked, Caylin didn't have access to the SWG source code.

That's like saying, " Well, since the weatherman who waswarning us about the hurricane for the past three weeks and telling us how best to prepare for it wasn't able to stop it from coming I don't see what good he did."
Are you insane PaulyX? I've been watching the smuggler progress for over a year now and the only bright light in all this mess has been Caylin. He's a strong advocate, clearly on our side and working very hard, and when he feels the need he isn't afraid to go toe to toe with the devs and step out on a limb to try and get us the answers we require or the attention one ofour issues needs. IMHO, he's the personification of what a good correspondant should be. He's not here to make changes, that's the devs, he's here to give our myriad voices a focus and a befinition that the devs might actually listen to, and he's done that time and again.

You fail to see the point. The fact is Caylin was ineffectual, just as the next to replace Caylin will be ineffectual. This is by design. These correspondants are here to simply keep you busy and to repeat common answers. Like a helpdesk. In the history of this game, there has never been a change that was coded due to intervention from a correspondant.
Ok, I'll consent I accomplished nothing as far as visible changes from the devs. This result howeveris not from a lack of effort.
As far as thehelp desk, that isn't an accurate perception. Many of us do like to help others though so we take that extra step. You can easily tell though that I normally don't answer basic questions regarding smugglers and their professions mechanics. What I did was put information in to the important links sticky and expect people to read. The only thing I actively try to answer are the 'where are we threads'.
So you know, there have been *many* changes to this game that were brought about due to intervention from a correspondent. To say otherwise just shows how ignorant you are. It's a very good program as a whole in getting results.

I would point out the way these forums were in the first few months after release in terms of getting info to the devs. If you didn't shout the loudest no one heard you at all. Compare that to now and the corr program is pretty effective. There have been changes made that you never saw and be glad for it.
As far as Caylin being ineffective? That's a laughable accusation. GMs presence here a couple months ago is testament to what Caylin was able to accomplish.
cool
