okay, as we all know slicing is RANDOM correct?
we all know that the quality of the tools does not matter...
but, does the "random % increase" vary from gun to gun?
okay ive sliced a bajillion VK's, and my avergae is about 23-25%
my scythe average is 29-31%
my looted disruptor rifle that had 400 something max damage got a 34% slice
i JUST sliced a DE-10 and i got a 35% slice
most noobie/looted crap guns that i slice are around 18 percent.
do you guys get what im saying? i know its very trendy and all about streaks, but i notice that certain weapons are prone to different average %'s.
seems to me the higher end equipment gets much better %'s. i mean i still pull the crappy 15% slicse out from time to time on high end stuff but that is rare.

i've sliced 3 DE-10's so far and unfortunately have gotten sub-20% on each of them, 2dmg and 1 speed
interesting theory, but it's like something I mentioned earlier about probability. Just cause you get 6 spd slices in a row doesn't mean the likelihood of the 7th being dmg is greater. Each wep is individual and random.
You're saying something different than that obviously, that each weapon type has a hidden sliceable stat type thing. Well, in my experience i get just as high and just as low and just as random with the whole spectrum.

Man you people REALLY need to stop trying to make it seem like there is anything else besides a complete randomness to slicing.
IT IS ALL RANDOM.
IT IS ALL RANDOM.

I have noticed similar patterns to what you mentioned, but it has not been entirely consistent. I think that it is just a coincidence. I am still a firm believer in the "its totally random" theory and will be until there is concrete evidence that it is not.

Ditto.
About the original poster's topic though, I've done slices on identical weapons and armor and gotten completly different slices so not sure on your theory. I'll start monitering my slices for higher and lower grade weapons though to test it out.

I just got through slicing 10 suits of compo from the same factory run and I saw the full range of possible slices on it (50 enc slices, 40 eff, ranged from 12-42%, don't know the average offhand.) So I'd guess that the full range is availavle to all items. My guess is you got really lucky on the loot/loot-component weapons and the sample size of those items sliced just isn't large enough to be representative.

I would say even within a specific weapon it is as random as any computer generated number can be. I posted 2 different sets of tests with a sample size of about 50 each. Weapons all from the same factory run, tools all from the same factory run, etc. It broke down to a fairly even distribution accross the entire range for a master smuggler. I think out of both tests I only hit the high once and only once below 15%.
Slicing is very "streaky". I hate to slice powerhammers because it seems they are always low but I did a crate yesterday and had 34% damage, 34% speed, as well as 14% for damage and speed. If you take a large enough sample size -- say 50 - 100 pieces -- you will see an even distribution.

being a smuggler reminds me of pre-publish 7 doctors buffs - except players did complain about bad buffs and that you were ripping them off. Man, those were painful days
Thatweapons have some additional slice property built into them based upon complexity is to me more random luck and coincidence for the poster than anything else. I've seen slices range all over the shop for all sorts of weapons and seen no pattern at all. I suppose randomness may from time to time throw up some results that may seem to follow a pattern.

If you say ANYTHING else than the words "Slicing is random" when it comes to slicing, you are a liar.

Welcome to concidence. Like the others, I suggest you get ahold of many more items, and run your tests with a larger group.
I don'tintend to sound mean, but you're basicly saying that you flipped a nickle ten times, and it turned up tails seven out of ten, sonickles must typicly turn up tails. And that you flipped a quarter ten times, and it turned up heads six times, so those must typicly turn up heads.

second de-10 34% damage
jesus people i didnt say "OMG IF YOUR WEAPON IS BETTER THAN I GUARENTEE A HIGHER SLICE!! OMG I FIGURED IT OUT!"
re-read what i said, its still random, but even though you flame boys are gunna flame me i still think that certain weapons are more prone to certain ranges of slicing

Think all you want, proof says that it is all random. Weapons and components do not determine anything about weapon slices.
