Here you sit with COMPLETE and TOTAL control over the quality of all high endweapons and Armor and you're running around charging 100 credits per percentage point. That's mighty charitable of you. In the meantime weaponsmiths and armorsmiths are raking in the cash selling weapons from 10K up to millions, and even those weapons aren't nearly as good as they can be with a slice. Doctors are charging 10K for a buff that lasts 3 hours, yet a slice lasts for the duration of the weapon/armor.
I've always thought of Smugglers as somewhat of a group of thug types, the kind of people that will charge people through the nose for a service they can't live without, ie a sliced weapon/armor. How many people do you know that run around with unsliced weapons and armor? Pretty much nobody.
They should change the smuggler titles to things like "nice guy" or "Charity case workers"
Smugglers have complete control over the quality of weapons and armor in every galaxy. Start acting like smugglers and start charging people through the nose for your services and stop whinning about the delay on the smuggler revamp. All master smugglers should be extremely wealthy if it weren't for you chartity case workers posing as smugglers.

Thats up to you man, but I dont get any service that I get gouged on, not buffs or anything. I can live with out a slice. Weapons and buffs are a little more important. Before you go off I have already mastered smuggler. I never charged for a slice until I had master smuggler. It aint charity, it was for xp.

You may be able to live without a slice, but very few are willing to do the same. Buffs are expensive, weapons and armor is expensive, slices that greatly improve weapons and armor are essentially free, couple thousand dollars, big deal.

On my server, I don't do charity. I do Slicing. I am not your slice monkey, you are not entitled to screw me over by charging me a minimalist wage. People should be nicer to us who aren't striking, and as for you Bobby, thanks for your time. Next time you want to come flame the community, don't bother.
Why don't you go level up a Smuggler, and then see how much control we have, k?

Why do you think I made this post?
I'm a Master Smuggler, not some charity case working nice guy.
I make an average of about 20K per slice and I'd make more if it weren't for charity workers posing as smugglers. Are you one of those nice guy 'smugglers'?

Well I dont quite see what your so upset about. You have total control over how much you decide to charge for a slice. I have decided to charge around 5k a slice and maybe up to 10k+ per slice if I dont really want to slice.
I spent plenty of time and money to level up and could make plenty of money running the janta and mokk missions on dantooine for 30k+ a mission.
I agree with the original poster.. weaponsmiths can charge lots extra. To buy a krayted weapon with +30 damage and -.3 speed a weaponsmith will charge at least 250k extra for it if not more. Then if a smuggler increases one of the attrabutes for the same thing then people complain if we charge over 3k... sure the krayted weapon could also be sliced better but the point is that people are willing to pay a lot for one thing and not for another.

Bingo! Smugglers are in control of the quality of weapons and armor on the servers yet many practically give the service away for pocket change.
I make an average of 20K per slice and I probably make that much 10-25 times per day and i sure as hell don't stand around shouting offers to slice peoples weapons or answering tells asking me to slice weapons/armor
One slight disagreement with the above post is that smugglers can chose how much their slices cost. That's not entirely true because it is a competitive market. Me thinks a dirty rotten scoundrel, err smuggler would have no problem cornering the market and making people pay for such
an important service. But maybe I'm wrong, and all the nice guys, err smugglers will keep the prices down so that slicing simply isn't worth the time. That's why I never slice when I'm out running about online. I only slice from the comfort of my own home, or standing in front of a weaponsmiths vendor.

It'd probably have helped you actually SAYING you were a Master Smuggler, rather than appearing to be a jerk coming in and flaming us.
And no, I don't do charity work. Why was I so made before? Someone had treated me like I was a charity worker not an hour before, so I was annoyed in general.

You see...there is just one BIG difference in a weaponsmith and those types of things...you know what you are buying when you go to them. For slicing you have no idea what kind of slice you are going to get. Maybe 18 percent speed...when you wanted 25+ damage...
Even the greatest weapon can turn to trash from a bad slice. I often times go with several of the same weapon when i go to get slices...costing me 20+k a trip. I end up getting 1 maybe 2 of the slices that i can keep...while the other weapons i have to throw away. Thats a lot of money gone from buying the weapon..and also paying for the slice...for a weapon im not going to keep.
When the devs make slicing so you guys can give top quality slicing on all your jobs...then you can start charging a ton for it. (and i would GLADLY pay 30 - 50 k for a good top quality slice of the type i want).

i agree with bobby , smugglers are the lowest paid "master" proffesion , and its mostly due to
the smuggler community not charging what our skill should be worth. i myself will always charge
10 k a slice , its rediculous how a Doc , chef , weaponsmith , armor ,ect can rape the general
public of your hard earnd credits , just like the one guy said a 250k mark up on a kryat pistol can you imagine how bad a smuggler would get flamed for charging someone that price ? hell i get flamed for spending my time to master a proffesion and offer a awsome service to better your weapons and armor for 10 k !
i was a master doc and my wife plays and is a master doc and on a good weekend she can sit in coronet and make 1 million a night buffing , yep 3 mill a weekend and it maybe cost a total of 50k
to make the supplies to do it if you harvest yer own stuff , i dont think smugglers are out of line at all hell we should charge 30k a slice, yes im a master smuggler now not doc anymore , the wife
makes all our money now , slicin' isnt puttin food on the table thats for sure
and one of the other posters stated " i dont need to slice to make money i can run missions on dantoonie for 30 k " ,
lemme ask you , why are you a smuggler ? its people like you that are ruining the profession
for people that want to make money for giving thier time and hard work to master a profession
and not get paid at the end.
so instead of docs, chefs , weapon , armorsmiths charging insane prices guess they should charge 3 k for a set of composite , or crate of brandy for 500 credits ect and run 30k dantoonie missions to make up for mastering thier proffesion......
bottom line its smugglers screwin themselfs , stop bieng charity workers and charge what our
damn trade is worth you freebie slicers and 100 credits % slicersshould just hit "surrender skill", lets see if you get any charity work from the other professions , or since a weaponsmith is just "skilling up and needs the exp " he should giveyou free weapons. hah yeah right , he'll laugh at that while he takes his 5 mil to the bank.

" Even the greatest weapon can turn to trash from a bad slice."
maybe your playing a different game than i am but ive prsonally never "trashed" someones
weapon and made it useless. every slice IS a improvement just some better than others.
this is another reason smugglers cant make no money , IF its not the max possible some
people see it as a waste , but i guess its every trade, if brandy is less than +420 its junk
if the buff is less than 3 hours its junk, or the armor isnt 90% its junk.....right?

Well turn a great weapon to trash? screw you. a 400+ max dam geno is still a great f...... gun with a 11% speed slice, hell it was a damn good gun without a slice. Bottom line is you dont have to have your weapons sliced you choose to have them sliced. a great weapon CAN NEVER BE TRASH unless a repair fails, the slice just make's the weapon better if it 11 or 35% speed or damage its better than when you first got it. how about if i was aWS and had 2 weapons on my vendor 2 krayt geno blaster's one 1.3 240 - 400 the other1.2 @ 260- 420 first onepriced at 400k the other one at 500k which one do you buy?the second one i bet you pay 100k more for a weapon thats 10% better than the other one, and you htink : hm that weapon with a 25%+ dam slice = Ub3r 1337 13wt pwnag3.
If you are at the speed cap i agree a speed sliced weapon is kinda a waste but a 13% speed slice might benefit a dabbler or a lower level of that prof? you can always sell it at what you got it for or a little less. also i seem to have a strange re-collection of docs charging 10 - 12k for buffs before they got the "balance" i also seem to see 10 point smiths charging the same as 12 point smiths. NO matter what kinda slice your weapon gets its at least 11% better than when you got it off a ws vendor.what if you came to me andi said : ok5k pr slice but over 25% damage is30k would youpay that? You also say "i often buy 5 or more weapons" well in that case if you pay3k pr slice or 10k pr slice aint that much of a difference is it? basically i can make 4x what that slice cost me in 1 mission. i can pay to have a full comp suit sliced in 1.2 mission's or about 4 minutes. My master smuggler char is also a m.swordsman why should i bother to slice you halfdecent gear when i can make about 3x as much inthe same time? you might want to thinkabout why theres been months since you saw 2 or more master smugglers in the same place in hte same place. Personally i charge for my time and to be truthfull slicin your "ub3r 1337" gear is not the most fun way i spend my ingame time. I dont see te logic either from where you would need a 25%+ dam slice, im a master swordsman i havebeen in battle withall kinds of krayt's, NS elder's and a certain female that only spawns once pr day, and i have 1 scythe 24% speed slice, 2 powerhammers 1. 27%dam slice 2. 18% speed slice, cause ihave found out something you apperantly have not :your equipment does not matter, if your staring at the sky waitingfortheDB. you actuallyneed "tactics" in this game.if your do 1400 pr hit or 1600pr hit after -ar and resist it doesntreallt make much of a difference when knocking off 200k+ hams does it? Armor same thing if your have a suit 80% kin 60% base with a 30% encumb slice your secondaries are 30% higher with a 30% effect slice you take 18% more damge away form the attack. So hit with 100 damge from a blaster in armor suit oneits 100 - 60% = 40 left so you take 40 damage but with your secondaries at 2k+from buffs you regen it in no time, with a 30% encumb slice you regen it even faster, basically like my collegue said about aussies and brits, same sh*t. There is not one thing in this game that requires you to have 80% kinetic 40% stun, 95% base comp, a 400+ damage geno or jawa or scythe when after 30 seconds you are dead from a combat medic, i last pretty long in PvP with my 80% kinetic 50% base lightweight comp, and 600 max dam PH or 300 max dam scythe with a stun helm at 80% kinetic, 35% stun, just because i get dancer and music buffs and use tactics when fighting. basically i have been up against basically every mean S.O.B this game has to offer in PvE solo or in groups without the uber armor and weapons simply because it ticks me off to use 250k+ on a weapon that will get messed up at first repair. And how can you justify brandy selling at 175k pr crate, 400+ mind, focus and will, wanna guess the profit margin?
