You see...there is just one BIG difference in a weaponsmith and those types of things...you know what you are buying when you go to them. For slicing you have no idea what kind of slice you are going to get. Maybe 18 percent speed...when you wanted 25+ damage...

Even the greatest weapon can turn to trash from a bad slice. I often times go with several of the same weapon when i go to get slices...costing me 20+k a trip. I end up getting 1 maybe 2 of the slices that i can keep...while the other weapons i have to throw away. Thats a lot of money gone from buying the weapon..and also paying for the slice...for a weapon im not going to keep.

When the devs make slicing so you guys can give top quality slicing on all your jobs...then you can start charging a ton for it. (and i would GLADLY pay 30 - 50 k for a good top quality slice of the type i want).

Thats pretty much how Ive felt about it...also a reason I havent played my smuggler much lately.

I charge anywhere from 3-5k depending on whether I feel like it or not. I don't slice anyone for free, for friends and guildmates I slice and they tip what they think is fair. In my experience I have made good money on just asking for tips, I have been tipped 20k for just a single weapon slice. It's up to the smuggler on what to charge, but they should not slice for free either because it does ruin our business. Luckily from living so close to Theed and spending so much time there I have become popular and well known for slices and most of my customers come back over and over and recommend me highly. If you can find regular customers that trust you, you're set. Just my 2 creds.

You Sir sound like a true smuggler. My thoughts exactly.

You'll have to let me buy you a beer at the cantina so I can stiff you with the bill sometime.

I know, we'll let XxMad pay the bill. He's a nice guy.

1) We never harm a gun. It's ALWAYS as good as it was when we got it.

2) However...there is a general understanding that individual smugglers have total leeway to charge whatever they want. Whatever the market will bear. So we can DISCUSS price, but we don't DICTATE price. Let's try and remember that.

If you'd have read previous threads on this. I charge 5k for a slice under 19%, and 10k for a slice over 20%. This received not only very positive feeback in the "For the Remaining Smugglers, how much do you charge per slice" thread, but has made people raise prices. This is also in line with the general feeling felt by the Flurry Smugglers, as per the meeting that was had on the server. Notes of which can be found on this forum. I DO NOT charge 100 creds per % as I feel that is a serious undervaluation of our service.

And if you absolutely must know why I was in such a bad mood with your original post, someone had just asked me to slice around 700 weapons, at 1k to 1.5k per slice. Like I said. I don't do charity work.

Weaponsmiths, armorsmiths and doctors are the real smugglers in this game. Smuggers just have the title above our heads.

I don't even put the title above my head most of the time because all the nice guy smugglers have made it a waste of my time to do so. I don't need a bunch of tells each day asking me to sit around and wait or come find someone for a couple thousand dollars. And it's an equal waste of time to have about 2 in every 3 say I'm charging too much. They'll go find one of the nice guy smugglers instead.

I've found another method using a vendor but I'm still not making the kind of money I think a master smuggler should make considering the value of our service

XxMad,

I charge about 2-3 times what you charge and I think it should be higher.

FWIW, the reason I posted the original post in the manner I did was because i am trying to challenge the smuggler community. The nice guy market we're in is killing my profit margin

I don't even disagree with you. It's shocking the attitude some Weaponsmiths and Armoursmiths have and how greedy they get. However, the old saying is true "Those with money, only want more money". Currently, I'm happy charging what I do. When the Flurry Smuggler community says it's time to up prices, I'll up prices. If you can get 20-30k then fair play to you, I /tiphat at you and admire it. I know a good materials vendor, and I know an architect. My overheads are very, very low, and I make a Hell or a lot more money selling apprentice points anyway.

If we get control over our slices (By this I mean at least the CHOICE to pick power or speed) I think I'd have an extreme price hike, if I'm going to be hunted by BHs and get TEFs in the revamp, then I think they'll be another extreme price hike.

XxMad,

In a way we do have a method of allowing the customer to pick what sort of slice we offer by getting a vendor. Some want speed to grind, others who have already mastered want dmg so it seems to work out.. That's how I charge about 20K a slice on average. The most I've ever charged was 900K for a single weapon for example.

It all boils down to this guys. Charge what you want and/or what you feel the market can bear on your server. If you can make tons of cash slicing weapons & armor go ahead. If you can't or don't care to then there is always spices saleson the adventure planets where supplies have to be ferried in. (ie no player cities for vendors) And the selling of faction and faction items.

Personally I'm in a holding pattern for 1--JTL, and 2--The Smuggler Luv Patch(tm)

To Do List:
[ X ] Master Smuggler profession
[ X ] Buy JTL so I can have a personal spaceship to Smuggle goods
[ ] Wait until Smuggler Revamp to be able to actually Smuggle well, ANYTHING.
Well, SOE? I've done MY part.
