Interesting !
Seems Rebel/Imperial colonels will both be immune from their respective scan teams, but with neutral police forces running scans as well, no one will be completely safe. (Presuming +5000 CorSec doesn't get you off the hook.) With neutral crackdown teams, that should mean there are no lawless zones anymore, as places like Coronet (ironically enough) currently are.
Still leery of giving high-ranking officers a free pass from their own faction, but in general this looks like a pretty nice addition.

First item of note: After the necrothread yesterday, the first thing I looked at was the date.
Second: Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! This is good.
Third: WHEN?! whenwhenwhen?! Are we there yet?

Hey! Check it out. Our old friend the "Imperial Loophole" is back and he's brought his brother along: "Rebel Loophole"!
"The neutral police forces are loyal to the faction that controls the planet and some will conduct scans of passers by. The police will be searching for contraband such as illegal spices and sliced weapons (regardless of faction) or enemy agents and will fine or attack as appropriate. Running away from a scan will continue to have the same effects (loss of faction). High ranking members of factional armies will be safe from scans if their faction controls that planet."
I'm all for the Occupation system and the new scans and all that. Really. That's pretty cool. But with the new Smuggler change with buying faction points, it's going to be a lot easier to find Smugglers to buy your way to Colonel and now it doesn't matter if your Imperial or Rebel. And I'm sure the Droid Loophole still exists too.
Like I said, great change for the system. I love the Occupational system. But these penalties and punishments for breaking the law needs to be widespread.
LET'S NOT LOSE THE BATTLE OF THIS CRACKDOWN!!!!!!!

Wes and I were certainly on top of that topic Nickheel the moment this was mentioned to the correspondents. A reduced chance I can accept but not an immunity that makes them more capable than smugglers themselves.

To be reasonable, I can see why a Colonel wouldn't be scanned by his own faction's patrols. Still, I don't think, for game balance reasons, they should be able to dance around with impunity just because they're a Colonel.
However, I do think it should be much harder to attain the higher ranks, and perhaps there should be something more resembling an actual rank system, and a cap to how many Colonels there are on a particular server, or a particular planet. (Determined by delcared residence?)
The balance to the high-ranking loophole, is that neutral law enforcement teams will scan Colonels, as well as opposing faction teams. This won't be anywhere near as bad as the Imperial Colonel loophole, because people besides the Imperials will scan.
And the Rebels get Coronet... that'll make it harder on the Imperial Colonels.

I honestly don't say this much about the game systems, I usually get the feeling they were drawn out on a napkin during a lunch break, but...
I AM IMPRESSED!
Whatever the Devs are doing, keep it up!(that is unless it involves torture...)
Edit: As for the high-ranking stuff, I won't be completely annoyed either way really, as long as a high-ranked Rebel doesn't get a heavier penalty for having a sliced weapon.

I kind of figured you would. Never thought about this being shown in the C-Forum first though. Good to know yall are on top of it. Can't be any worse than SanTsu lol
I know you guys will do your best. This simply can't fly and won't fly with me.
You wouldn't happen to know if the frequency of the scans has been upped too, do ya? Or is that a NDA thing?

lol.. "I got a problem with the rules and I'm starting to feel a little crazy!!"
I noticed the loophole for officers will be expanded for Rebels, but a mitigating factor is the neutral patrols should make no exceptions for either side. Unless I'm reading that wrong. Still, there are no local police forces on Tatooine, maintaining the entire planet as a freewheeling crime zone for those of us with lots of stripes and medals, which is acceptable for Eisley but not for Bestine or Anchorhead or any of the major cities. And even in places like Theed or Coronet, they're effectively negating half the police presence of the city, which will doubtlessly open up wide paths for your average felonious citizen to travel without worry. It's part of our basic freedoms to carry and conceal highly modified illegal weaponry, after all.
All right, I'm back on board. Down with the crackdown loophole! Down with free rides for the corrupt fatcats that lead our military forces!! But especially down with every player in the game being just as criminally dismissive of the laws of the land as we are!!!

Interesting...
But I still maintain it is a big no-op for us, as far assmuggling is concerned, unless there are scan patrols in starports.

QFE. But I'd like to see that changed. Hopefully, in some way, maybe Caylin and Wes can get the Droid/Rebel/Imperial Loopholes closed up and have the scans planted in starports and outside of shuttlleports and well as patrols.
Maybe, make it a real crackdown and not some hokey pokey amusement park with drunk guys in costumes pretending to enforce the law.

We brought up the scans, smuggler validity, droid loop hole and also quoted Nicolas for an alternative method. Doing what we can to cover the bases. It's up to the developers to establish two-way communication on this issue now.
