how come this spice, drug, or whatever you want to call it, is not in the game (though refered to in the movie), while a whole bunch of made-up spices exist in SWG?

Didn't they used to be? Maybe I just took something that looked like it way back when and named it that. I forget. ![]()

/pulls out notepad
/adds deathsticks to the already ridiculously long list of star wars content that should be ingame
/feels glum again as to why the devs never seem to put in the obvious and easy content into this game to make it feel star warsy , oh well.![]()

OK, prepare for a rant.
The whole "deathsticks" scene ruined that movie for me more then all the poorly acted, poorly written and poorly contrived "you're pretty because you're not sand" romance schlock. Deathsticks? Deathsticks??!?!?! Come on George! You're not an idiot, we know this. So why throw such a moronic piece of flavor-of-the-month social commentary down our throats? Hey, look, this guy's holding what are, clearly, cigarettes and they're called "deathsticks!" Wow, I wonder what you're trying to say about smoking? Could it be exactly what everyone else is saying?
Sci-fi is a great bastion for social commentary. You can say so much in sci-fi that you can't in other forms of fiction. You can carefully and subtly craft a story that eloquently comments on our life and our choices without judging. It can be a mirror of what's good about us, what's bad about us, and what we could become. Sci-fi can do so much... but it has to be subtle!
Subtle! You can't take something straight out of our everyday lives, throw it into a sci-fi context and give it some generic label and be all, "Hey, I'm socially responsible." A) it doesn't work and B) it's f-ing annoying and it drags you right out of the moment.
OK, yes, I am a smoker and yes, I am annoyed at being constantly reminded that I shouldn't smoke. Well you shouldn't be a fatty! Sorry about that one... But yeah, I get annoyed by all the anti-smoking crusaders out there and when I sit down to watch a science fiction movie, especially one that's part of my favorite series of science fiction movies, the absolute last thing I want is the creator of the movie to do that very thing. It's.... well, it's rant-inducing, apparantly.
OK, (/rant)

Easy, Halibut. Just recite the following mantra until you are calm.
"Non-smokers die every day".
"Non-smokers die every day".

I quit smoking when it got too expensive, but whenever I hear an anti-smoking nazi start their shpeal on some poor soul, I tell them the story of my great aunt, who crossed the Sahara on a camel when she was 85, and was a smoker until the day she died, at 106.
And there are some deathsticks in game...if you disable and inspec Witchblood or Rancor Clan ships in dathomir space, you can find the ashes.

Great for your aunt. Too bad that for every person like your aunt or George burns, there are 10,000 who aren't and get cancer.

Cancer is nature's way of telling us that we're boring.
