OK, yes, I am a smoker and yes, I am annoyed at being constantly reminded that I shouldn't smoke. Well you shouldn't be a fatty! Sorry about that one... But yeah, I get annoyed by all the anti-smoking crusaders out there and when I sit down to watch a science fiction movie, especially one that's part of my favorite series of science fiction movies, the absolute last thing I want is the creator of the movie to do that very thing. It's.... well, it's rant-inducing, apparantly.

Ok, yes, I am an anti smoking nazi and yes, I DO get off on keeping smokers out of mylife and ruining my health. Kind of makes up for the old days when smokers used to blow smoke in my face and threaten to fight meif I asked them to stop. The new days are much better for Their health, too, since I no longer have to actually pound them into the ground for threatening me.
There is an old army saying "It just SUCKS to be you, doesn't it?"
Along with an old Don Henley saying "Get Over IT."

Have you seen Lucas lately?
There should be Deathburgers in the game.
Would you like to supersize your Deathfries, George?
And yes, I vote for Glitterstim. Not that it matters.
are you saying what i think you're saying?

My point is, GOM, don't knock someone's vice when you have plenty of your own. Glass houses and all that. I'm a fat sumbich myself... but I don't campaign for people to stop smoking because of their health.

Hey guys, how about we keep that smokers vs nonsmokers battle out of the Star Wars Galaxies Smuggler Forum?
We just manage to get that "Jedi are baaaad" stuff one Page 2 or 3 of this Forum, how about we get back on Toppic, or leave this threat alone?
Mesa thinks that its stupid to name these cigarette like drugs Deathsticks, not only cause I think this "getting the engnarled staff of moral out of the sack" is absolutely stupid, but also cause I think this name is absolutely stupid, and that ALSO in a Sci-Fi way...
These guys want to sell it, right? If I want to sell something that might ruine ya health... would I name it DEATHsticks? Isn't that some kind of, erm, ruin ya own business
I think if they GIVE us this new drug, also 15 are alreadyenough IMO, they should definately choose a better name, how about, Lightsaber
, also the jedi would start crying for a nerf cause they wouldn t be the only prof that can craft lightsabers anymore...
I think we all have enough spices already, and wesa don't ne this smoker/non-smoker battle in this Forum.

Christ-on-a-stick people!
It's bad enough that our revered Smuggler's Forum turned into a anti-Jedi bastion after the CU but now we have to have cigarette debates here?

Ok, this argument stemmed from the assumption that Death-Sticks are supposed to represent cigarettes... This doesn't neccesary have to be true. For all we know, it could represent crack (which I don't think many people would be supportive of)...For all we know it could be inserted into the ears, where radiation cooks the brain, making a drunk feeling that could be deadly. For all we know it could be stuck up the ass and sneezed out to produce a nice high. Let's not make too many assumptions here.

Keep smokers out of your life. Go for it, please. I have no problems with your choices whatsoever. If you don't want to associate with smokers, that's perfectly fine by me.
If, on the other hand, you come up to me, not knowing me from Adam, and tell me that I shouldn't smoke or malign my decision to light up outside or in a smoking establishment then I'm going to get pissed off. Will I blow smoke in your face? No, because I'm a polite smoker. Fancy that, eh? Someone who doesn't want to infringe on others rights and choices. Somehow, though, that doesn't seem like a concept that you're familiar with.
My issue, my only issue, was that this tripe is being thrust down our throats every single day. Don't make a judgement call about how I live my life, don't act all superior because you imagine that you're in the right and don't disparage what I choose to do to myself. That's what people like you - you admitted this clearly - seem to get off on doing, and that's exactly what Lucas did in Episode II. The fact that the name, as another poster mentioned, was utter crap from any rational standpoint - deathsticks? come on - is just another point of frustration and another clear example that Lucas was making a heavy-handed judgement on people's choices.
I am a good smoker. I obey the rules our society has put in place - much as I disagree with many of them - and I respect non-smokers. You'll never see me throw a cigarette out of the car window, if I'm camping or hiking I'll conscientously put out the cigarette and keep the butt with me so I can throw it out in the trash later and I always ask people if they mind my smoking before I light up. In what twisted world is that such a vile thing?
And to everyone else, I'm sorry for continuing this, I really am. I will not post about this again, whatever is said. I just wanted to say my piece.
I tell them the story of my great aunt, who crossed the Sahara on a camel when she was 85, and was a smoker until the day she died, at 106.
Yes, and there is the story of a guy putting a gun to his head, pulling the trigger, and living to age 90 (albeit in a wheelchair)....that doesn't make it a smart thing to do. The exception does not the rule make, as Yoda would say.
