I'm thinking of getting a new joystick. So I was wondering what the other smuggler pilots are using and would recommend.

I'm using the Microsoft SIDEWINDER Force Feedback 2. MS doesn't make sticks anymore, but its an excellent stick if you can find one.

This is what I use too. You just have to turn the resistance down on it so you don't get carpal tunnel and its a sweet stick. Everything you need throttle, rudder, lots o buttons. Only thing is that it gets kind of warm while in your lap so it uhhh...reduces the number of active marines in your underpants navy. Nothing permanent just a side effect of a warm lap, much like sitting in a hot tub.

I've currently got a sidewinder, not sure if its a FF2 or not. And it works fine, but I've been thinking about a split system with a seperate throttle control. Something like the Saitek X45.

Yeah, its a beast, but I'm one of those gamers that really beats on a controller. Its very solid so I don't have to worry about the thing busting apart in my hands. High resistance is a bonus in my book.

I use the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and am quite happy with it. Comfortable control, good response, lots of buttons and a nice sturdy base makes ship handling as easy as, well, pie.

Try picking it up with your finger and thumb. If you can do that no problem then its not a FF2, they're heavy! The FF2 also has a power plug (because of the force feedback.) Not sure many of the other Sidewinders have that.

Nope its not a FF2 then, all that mine has is USB cable and its lite as hell. I"m at work, but if I remember its Sidewinder Precision or something like that... 8 buttons, 1 hat and throttle control.

Thrustmaster Top Gun Fox Pro 2 force feedback. A really nice joystick that has held up well.

I use the Logitech Attack 3. Got it cheap ($ 25) atwo years back and it still works great. 11 Buttons, throttle control, and handles with a feather touch or hard punding depending on your prefered set-up.

Or if you want to go with the best you need one of these: I love mine, expensive though.
