I looked at that one, very nice, but a bit much on price, so I'm looking at the X45.

I use the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and am quite happy with it. Comfortable control, good response, lots of buttons and a nice sturdy base makes ship handling as easy as, well, pie.
ditto, works great for me as well

Nope its not a FF2 then, all that mine has is USB cable and its lite as hell. I"m at work, but if I remember its Sidewinder Precision or something like that... 8 buttons, 1 hat and throttle control.
Yep, a Sidewinder Precision 2,, same as mine. A lovely little flight stick, this baby has seen me through some tough times over the last 4 years. Recommended

Saitek x45 They have a newer version now, think it's the x52 so this model might be a bit cheaper now, cost me from the company think 70-80 dollars. Nice controler. Throttle and stick set up with enough buttons to have fingers on control without haing to use the keyboard much at all. Since it is 2 controls they do take up more space but overlal well worth it.

Logitec extreme 3D pro. throttle control, thumb trigger for missiles, twist for rolls.
12 buttons.... yes, you'll use all of them and wonder how you managed without them.

Microsoft Sidewinder Precission Pro 2.
Has carried me through WWII (both theaters), Vietnam, Cold War, Gulf War, and now the Galactic Civil War![]()
She's getting a little loose around the pivot but nothing I can't fix in under 10 minutes.

I use the X52. I traded up from my MS Sidewinder FF2. The X52 is the first of Saitek's HOTAS combos that I could use comfortably. The stick's "hand protector" on the X36 and X45 were just too small for me. The X52 is bigger, but can be adjusted to smaller hands.
I love having all the buttons, too. On the stick I have one hat set up to where moving it up and down will select between guns, and moving it from side to side will cycle the missiles. The first stage of the trigger fires the currently selected gun, while the second stage will unleash hell from every weapon on board. Dual-stage triggers are awesome things.
The stick is a little loose for me, but I'm getting used to it. This was my compromise stick. I couldn't afford Thrustmaster's Cougar HOTAS, so I went with the Saitek. I'm quite happy with the purchase.
The blue lights look cool, too.

the Saitek X52 is the top of the game, but it's expensive and complex.
i use 2 joysticks, one is the Saitek EVO Wireless, which is excellnt ormy laptop in my living room.
the other is the Saitek EVO Force, which gives better force feedback then the MS Sidewinder i gave up for it. i use that on my main power-houe rig.
They are both essentially the excellent Saitek EVO model with extra's added on. fully customizable for righties and lefties of any size hand. very sturdy and good button layouts.
i have yet to meet anyone with them that was disspointed.

saitek evo. As a bonus both left and right handed people can use this stick and as with most saitek sticks you can customize some of the ergonomic functionaliity of using the buttons on the stick itself. Tilting the button area to the right or left, raising or lowering the hand rest, or tilting part of the buttons for your thumb up or down depending on whatever position feels more comfortable. As for drivers for it use the ones from windows update for winxp..it recalibrates the stick whenever you log into space for the first time while online. Just rotate the stick around and twist the stick left and right as well as move throttle up and down. This avoids the drifting problems often associated with the drivers on the disk in the box. Driver also works fine with the saitek programming software.
also have the saitek x45 love it as well but I'm too used to using roll as a twist on joystick. This effected by aim severely for a while. But the only drawback to the x45 is the rocker arm rudder on the throttle and how much space it takes up on your desk top lol. But other than that it is a really good stick...though at first you may have to write up a cheat sheet for what all the buttons do lol.

Wow. I suck. My joystick, Logitech Attack 3, fried and wouldn't stay calibrated. Though apprently I'm doing something ok cause I've mastered both Alliance Vortex, and the Smugger's Alliance on my little mousy. ![]()
