I got my alt to slice my armor today. I got a lovely RIS set, I'm so proud of it and so saved up for skill tapes and got it to such a level I thought I couldn't better it.
Someone mentioned that I might improve it with a slice, so I got my alt character a master smuggler to slice it.
I've sliced things before post CU and so read the knowledge base and it mentioned that slicing would be beneficial.
I was really happy when I got a 7% effectiveness slice on each bit.
However on equiping it I didn't see a change.
Then 30 mins later I noticed I had hinderance and my movement slowed. I checked my armor and now it actually hinders me by +2.5 per piece, its ruined completely, I can hardly move when I wear it.
Does anyone have any information, this is game breaking for me after I came back after a long lay off.
I'm sooo upset

A little research would save so many people so much trouble.
Fact: Increasing effectiveness in armor now also increases the hinderance(its a give and take thing).
Fact: Slicing at the moment is buggy, and there's much more risk than reward currently.

You should notice an improvement to the protection after relogging. Slicing is very buggy at the moment as the numberous posts here will tell you. I myself simply refuse to slice armor for people unless they really piss me off

I read the knowledge base and it never said this would happen.
Why don't they just disable slicing till its fixed, its cost me everything I ever worked for in the game and the protection didn't even rise at all, its all negative.
I really don't know what to do, has anyone ever had a CSR reset anything like this?

I just found out I didn't get any increase because my armor was at the protective cap, so its all bad, slicing just made it impossible to wear.
I tried relogging, no change in protection, so I asked my armorsmith about the stats.
I really hope people read this and don't have the same misfortune.
The knowledge base didn't mention this at all which I always check when I have a problem.

I'm sorry to hear your plight. I haven't sliced armor or weapons lately on either of my smugglers due to the buggy nature of all slicing atm. Also as a side point...I would not completely base solutions to problems solely on the knowledge base. I've found it to be really out of date.

Here's what I've see so far (and all this has been reported before).
1) If a slice raises the protection of armor above the cap (which is 6000 special protection for unlayered armor), the armor will have its hindrances increased above what a master elite combat profession can mitigate. Quick tip: Slicing unlayered armor with special protection above 5500 will break the 6000 cap.
2) You don't see the results of slicing the armor right away. I usually have to wait a few hours for the stats to change before I can put a sliced suit on my vendor.

I've outright refused to slice for anyone for any price for the last while because of the current situation of slicing.

you read the.... KNOWLEDGE BASE?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA....
Don't EVER read the knowledge base, it's about a year behind.
If you want to know something about a profession, head to that profession's forums, like you've done now, and READ THE STICKIES. Nothing is more important than that, whether you're looking for info about slicing or the best way to make a lightsaber, or the best way to make speeders.
The correspondents keep updated lists of vital information. CSRs do NOT.

Ah thanks man, thanks for that. I wish you the same good luck in the future...
I just hope others don't make the same mistake. Why isn't this information stickied as a warning? Its easy to say 'well you should have known' but an issue like this should have its own sticky?

See in the Stickies there, where it says, "Slicing in the CURB - an Initial Analysis" ?

It does if you trawl through a few pages ofit agreed.
A sticky :
DANGER Warning to slicing high end armor
would be much better for people, don't you agree?
