1. TOP and BOTTOM of the ORIGINAL post have been edited to state that Slicing is messed up.

2. If I ever bothered to spend 60 million on armor (modded bh or something?) I would probably do some research.

3. SOE doesnt really care what happens to your 60 million, doing anything like shutting off slicing would be admitting they screwed up. Not something they like to do.

4. The fact that slicing is messed up seems to be common knowledge, I haven't sliced since 1 week after the CU, and since day 1 everyone I sliced for knew full well it was borked. Even a jedi who had me slicing stuff for his alt knew. It's not like this information was a secret.

5. Complaining about it on the Smuggler forums won't get you anywhere. The Devs don't read this forum, and we can't give you your 60 million back.

"I think you're right, so why doesn't SOE lock slicing until a fix has been put in place for the less well informed, it will save people so much trouble?"

Not only will they not reset your stuff, but I bet if you submit a ticket, they will cut and paste an ignorant response which has nothing to do with your problem, proving they dont bother even reading their "support" emails past the first sentence.

It is a perverse thing that i find myself laughing about this, but there is something humorous about 60 million credit armor being geeked because of SOE and their nefarious ways.

Dont be surprised when they nerf our root and give us nothingin terms of CC to replace it.As smugglers we really should expect the worst, given our history.

Well I was just asking a question, and warning others, I didn't expect hostility or a refund. I don't come on the internet forums to argue, I come to participate in the game.

Thanks to those who gave suggestions and the two who PM'ed me.

I'll leave you smugglers be now.

Then 30 mins later I noticed I had hinderance and my movement slowed. I checked my armor and now it actually hinders me by +2.5 per piece, its ruined completely, I can hardly move when I wear it.

the above statement is also an error. You just have the highest encumbrance. They do not add together. So your total encumbrance is a -2.5% on whatever it added encumbrance to. Not that big of a decrease.

Oh yea, I also forgot, and I'm not trying to start a flame war or anything, but you performed the cardinal sin of slicing.

You attached tapes BEFORE the slice. Just like an ADK, or any other add on, like one of those quest reward PUPs. Everything should be put on AFTER the slice, so you don't lose anything if the slice goes south.

Just advice. That's something that's not as common of knowledge.

Do mitigations from professions add up? I'm a Pikeman/Ranger on one of my chars, both give +40% mitigation for Battle Armor. If I got it sliced above 40%, would the mitigation combine and still be hinderence free, or does it apply only with 1 profession?

you have three mitigation categories:

rate of fire
movement
accuracy

let's say you have two professions with the same armor type mitigations, like you have.

If they both have 40% rate of fire mitigation, your mitigation will be 40%
If one has 40%, and one as 30%, your mitigation will be 40%

It takes the highest from each category, but they do not stack.

Ok smugglers you win.

I'm not here to argue, just see if anything can be done. I don't know the ins and out, like many people who are new to smuggling. Apologies for posting in error, it wasn't my intention. I was saying that every piece has the similar hinderance, not as a cumilative effect. I really am upset because after two years it was my crowning achievement, everything I had worked for. I find it surprising that some people find it funny, I wouldn't laugh if someone else had a problem such as this, it is only damaging to the smuggling profession and to the game.

Much has been said recently of people dabbling in smuggling to enable certain attacks, and also some have called for this ability to be greatly decreased.Being new to smuggling i supported the fact that smugglers need to retain that ability as part of the overall benefits of being a smuggler. I wish no one here any malice. I also supported the fact that the smuggler revamp was a high priority too in the past.

I've been probably one of the most greatly effected by this bug/feature, there is no protection increase because the armor protection was capped for RIS, i couldn't go any higher, so all I did was add hinderance. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and I'm sure others may have acted impulsively in the past. I quit SWG and came back very recently, and with all that is going on, its hard to keep track. I think I can be forgiven for my error given the wealth of new things to learn and to try.

The hinderance of 2.5 makes my toon walk all the time, so the effect is pretty devastating.

I didn't post so people can analyse my every word. I've been badly effected by this and so wanted to see if anybody else has had similar problems and maybe prevent others from doing the same.

I thank the community for boosting the awareness of this, not everyone plays 24/7. and I certainly won't be devoting very much time to the game in the past.

So for those who smile at my misfortune (/lowblow), well I'm glad something came of it . I hope this is fixed or better documented in game in the future and I will petition SOE to do so as a high priority. I didn't intend to polute your boards with irrelevent info, but being a community forum, I thought this the best place to post.

So thanks for the nice PM's of support and the information here, I will update if the CSR I have spoken to will attempt to reset my items, he said it would be hard, but given the value they judge each case by it's merits.

The golden rule seems to be if the protection on a suit is 5/7 7/5 or 6/6 slicing any higher will increase the hinderance over your mitigation. If you want to be an invincible tinman, you are going to move like an invincible tinman.
